Belkin ripoff rebate fraud non-payment Compton California
Sent in rebates per instructions (3 @ $40 each, 3 different products) - website confirmed everything received properly and claims initial rebate was sent out - never received. After being forced to wait a month (in case they arrived), company claimed they would resend (which would take an additional 6-8 weeks on top of the 10-12 I'd already waited...FYI they CLAIMED 8-10 weeks initially). Recontacted company mid-December, they claimed checks would be sent in 10-14 business days (absolute latest 1/4/05...I counted). Still nothing. Recontacted beginning of Feb - claimed they have STILL not sent. What a scam!

Finally received rebate

Almost 6 months to the day after submitting my rebate I finally received it. This is a far cry from the 8-10 weeks advertised, and a lot more work...I had to get the Attorneys General of 2 states, as well as the BBB and FTC involved... and after all of this runaround, do you think I was compensated...hell no!
From what I can figure Belkin will first tell their fulfillment center to say the rebates have been sent in, when in reality they are not. They then tell you to wait a month from the mail date, and recontact them if they are still not received.
Finally, when you once again reinform them of the lack of receipt, they will claim it takes an addtional 6-8 weeks for process (in reality this time is closer to 10-12, and that's will all of my additional pressure). In the meantime they are able to earn interest on your money, and here's the kicker...when I was receiving email from Belkin's rebate rep (Melvin Williams), he would forward me the response he received from the fulfillment center...as of about 12 weeks from the initial date I sent the rebate in, Belkin had still not paid the fulfillment center (as indicated by the email).
I think that company is an overall scam, and while I haven't had any problems with their product I will never compare their "rebate" price against another manufacturer's stated price...it's just too hard to get the money they contractually owe you
(1. Offer is terms of rebate, 2. Acceptance is your purchase and subsequent submittal of documentation based on stated terms, and consideration whatever you bought...Contract Law 101) out of them.
