One of my friends reported that when they called my number they would hear a fax line noise if I wasn't home. I called 611 to report the problem since I don't have a fax line.

They sent a repairman who repaired the problem outside.
I received a bill for $95. I called the customer service and was told the problem was on my end and the charge was justified. If they would have told me how much it cost I would have said forget it. It only occurred because my answering had been hit by lightning a few weeks ago. If I would have replaced it the problem would of been resolved.

When you speak to the repair dept. they do advise you if you do not have the Inside Wire Maintenance Plan (aka IWM, $4.75 per month) that there may be fees if the tech finds the problem is on your side of the "demark" box. Unfortunatly when most people call in about their problem that is all they are concerned with and do not listen to details until a charge appears on your bill. Also, when you set up your service and decline the IWM plan, you are advised that those charges may apply in the future if you call repair for a tech to come out. BUT LIKE MOST CUSTOMERS YOU NEVER LISTEN OR READ YOUR 'MESSAGES' PART OF YOUR BILL.
