Ordered granite counter top - wrong counter top delivered - when I contacted the company they said I was wrong - their invoice indicated the correct granite top that was chosen - they said I lied about the chosen counter top and that the secretary wrote the wrong description - everyone was wrong but them. Then they said to replace with correct granite was even a higher pricer by over $190.00. They wanted me to pay an additional $920.00 for the counter that I had originally ordered. This counter is approximately 36 inches wide by 22 inches deep.

#2Consumer Suggestion

Mon, February 22, 2010

Because this is a contractor and they must hold a valid contractor state license, I suggest contacting CSLB and filing a complaint. They will investigate this contractor and will review your transaction for any illegal conduct. If they find this contractor to be conducting business that violates California construction law, they will penalize the contractor and flag their contractors license. This is a good tool for consumers who have been ripped off by a contractor, a license with disciplinary actions will allow possible patrons to know the risk they take by doing business with this contractor and will assist the injured party to possible resolve the issues at hand.

Also, all licensed contractors have bonds. Contact the bond company listed on their CSLB license and file a claim. This is an insurance for the consumer, it covers the costs the contractor failed to perform within the contract. This is a faster, easier way to recuberate losses caused by the contractor.

You can look up any contractors license by going to: www.cslb.ca.gov
