Complaint Review: Bernard Haldane associate

I used Bernard Haldanes of Los Angeles in 2001. I though the entire experience was a rip-off. Eventually, I complained that I wasn't getting services that had been orally promised to me, and I asked for the refund that I'd been promised I could have if I wasn't entirely satisfied. Bernard Haldane in Los Angeles denied that I had been promised any refund and would not return my calls - refusing to even discuss the promised refund. Fortunately, I had kept detailed notes of all my conversations with Hank Johnson, the Bernard Haldane guy who'd promised me the world. I also had notes on the questions I'd asked him and his response, including the conversation about refunds. I tried to call this guy about a dozen times and he NEVER once returned my call. Eventually I contacted the head of Bernard Haldane in New York in writing and told them I was filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau in Los Angeles against Haldane and that I was going to write to the newspapers that carried Bernard Haldane advertisements and tell them what I thought of Haldane business practices and ask the papers to investigate the practices of theirs advertisers. Why doesn't the Wall Street Journal carry their ads??? The very next day I got a call from the CEO. After some haggling I got a complete refund. The entire experience was horrible. If you're trying to get your money back from these guys make as much of a fuss as possible. File complaints with the Better Business Bureau, Contact the papers, tell them you're doing this - it worked for me. But My advice is stay away. All they did for me was tell me I should write lots of letters to people and network more to find a job. Mike. Los Angeles, California
