I've heard of Bernard Haldane Associates through years of advertising in the NYTimes. After months of unemployment, and using the net, Haldane called me in for a "career assessment" and personalized job search. Sounds exciting!!

After entering the oak panelled Park Avenue Office, I gave the receptionist my resume, since they had requested it. Immediately I was handed a "confidential" questionaire which requested my social security number, my financial status (net worth) and other personal questions (drug problems- answer either 'yes' or 'no'....and the story continues. I'm surprised they didn't ask me for my PIN code!! Why such information- (I'm just their client-not a prospective employee working for them)

After meeting with a VP for about an hour, the "presentation" sounded great insofar as what they could do for me as their "client" I was asked to come back for a final presentation (Sales Pitch) and to bring a check for $5,000. They also said they take credit cards. (FUNNY THING- on the initial application I completed, they asked me which credit cards I own! I believe such practices are unethical, hurtful, and deceiving.

After returning home, I deceided to check with the BBB just for the sake of it. To my dismay, I read hundreds (at least) reports of those who were "taken" for larger sums and never given the services promised. Not only in the NY office, but ALL of the offices. Bless all of you wrote in.
