Money orders are made to either be deposited or cashed at a high interest (10%+, for money orders, etc.) check cashing location. I decided to deposit my $400.00 western union money order into my "Best Bank" account. My understanding was Best Bank will deposit $100.00 on the next business day with transactions, except for cash, which will(should) go through the same day.

I called "best bank" approximately less than 2 hours after I handed over the money order to them, to verify a $100 will be available next business day. The manager Kristen Cork informs they forgot to have me sign the front of the money order, and to come and sign it before they can process it, following she told me it will take 5 days for "any" of the funds to be available any. I immediately asked her if I can pick up the money, and take to a check cashing place to avoid the 5 day hold, she told me sure, just come and pick up. Keep in mind no one told me about the 5 hold during, before, or even after I gave the money order to them, inside the bank.

Once I arrived 15-20 minutes later the manager tells me she can't return the money order cause it has already been sent off ''it has left the building." The money order unsigned on the front was literally sitting on the counter behind her (I was looking right at), it was there for me to sign. I asked her why? what? happened she just replied sarcastically "I can't return it to you?" I told her I was going to call Best Bank right now the customer service and try to over ride the entire thing, walking away Kristen Cork mumbled "I am the manager here customer service can't do anything, I don't know why you wanna waste our time".

I called customer service in front of the "Branch Manager", and explained the situation to the rep, who placed me on hold and called the bank and spoke to Kristen Cork, after a few seconds Kristen Cork the "Branch Manager" hung up in the face of the rep. My called dropped I could not reach the rep back. So spoke to someone else in "cust. serv." who also called the bank, the "branch manager" Kristen Cork hung up in this reps face, as well. I saw the entire incident.

The rep just apologized and said this happens "all time"(Best Bank mangers hang up in there face. What???)"there is nothing we can do". When I was leaving the bank the branch manager was literally yelling rude sarcastically comments to me. This $400.00 was sent from my children's father, who I can't ever get a dime from to help with our 3 children, I work 2 jobs, and have to take care of my kids alone. We are just barley getting by. The money was going toward the late rent. It had to be paid within 3 days. We lost our apartment to due "Best Bank" misleading information. We had to move with my friend in 1 bedroom apartment. Something needs to be done about this company and the customer service, satisfaction they provide to there clients.

I too learned the hard way that money orders are not considered cash. I was three months behind in my rent and if I had been able to cash me that money order I would not be living with my new baby daddy. After I closed my account and tried to open an account at Washington Mutual they also placed a hold. It turns out that there is so much fraud with money orders that all banks put a hold on them unless you have had a bank relationship for a long time. I understand now that I should get a me a postal money order in the future. They are held only one day and I don't need to open an account since any post office will cash them! Until I can git my Checksystems report fixed, I will do just that!
