At the risk of having a contract put on my life by "R" in oregon, I am including a copy of my complaint recently submitted to Best Buy Corp Hdqrs. I think it speaks for itself so no further comments will be made - except to say that if there is a favorable response from Best Buy, I will promptly notify Rip-Off reports.

Dear President Dunn:

I recently read your Apology To Best Buy Customers and was particularly impressed with the comments regarding Company Ethics and Fairness. These comments prompts us to submit our problem outlined below.

In August 2005 we bought a Whirlpool Gold refrigerator at your Newark, California store. The salesperson recommended an extended warranty and we agreed. Within three months it required four repairs for the same failure (freezer/ice maker).

After the forth failure I called the store and asked that it be replaced or allow a store credit to purchase a different brand. We were told all returns must be done within thirty days. I asked how we should know about additional failures that hadn't happened yet? I was then told that the situation would be discussed with management, and I would be called back.

Upon the return call I was told this was store policy and I should go to Whirlpool with the problem. Now we must go through the same time-consuming routine, unassisted, with a different company? We thought, by the purchase of the extended warranty, we would be dealing with Best Buy. Why didn't they have Whirlpool do the work in the first place if there was no Best Buy lemon policy available? Obviously this was the easiest way out.

We presently have a refrigerator that was, and is, partially out of service since we bought it! Any assistance you can provide would be very much appreciated and in keeping with Best Buy's stated philosophy.

Yours truly (and merry Christmas),
