Last Fall, Aug 2010 I purchased an ASUS computer (laptop) from Best Buy. Within a month the mouse pad did not work on the laptop. After numerous calls to a company (the manufacturer) that Best Buy gave me and unable to contact anyone, I gave up and decided to justuse a wirelessmousemy laptop. 3 months later several keys would not work and the laptop basically lost all of my graduate work I had completed theprevioussemester. I also lost several major papers that were dueat that time. I decided to takemy laptop back in and had them send the computer to the manufacturer in which they said it would cost $85.00. Two days later, (and I don't think that they ever send it to a manufacturer), they called me and said that it would cost $716.00 to fix my laptop, and that the damage was water damage and was not covered under thewarranty. I never had my laptop near water!I carry it in a computer bag, waterproof. To whom this may concern, I wish that Iwould researched this company before I bought from them.

"Best Buy gave me a number." Did you check the Asus website and contact them through email? Was the number the same as on the website? I never purchased that brand but the company seems like a very large outfit. Instructions on the website appear tolead you in the right direction.

Also, Asus laptops have either a 1 or even 2 year warranty. Your issue, seemingly an electrical/electronic one, would have been covered.

Although I never recommend purchasing from Best Buy I do recommend backing up your important information on a regular basis. The statement "the laptop basically lost all of my graduate work I had completed theprevioussemester," is irresponsible.
