Best Buy insurance sells auto insurance policy then denies coverage when in an accident Arlington Texas
I purchased a new truck sometime last year. As with any new vehicle, you must provide proof of insurance before taking delivery.
With my driving record, it is very hard to find a decent insurance rate. Usually my full coverage is more expensive than my car payment. I called around and spoke with Jeff at the Best Buy Insurance on Cooper St. in Arlington. He gave me a quote for full coverage on the truck. It was great, about $75.00 less of a down payment than anyone else, and about $50.00 less a month.
I made the large downpayment, took my policy paperwork and receipt and left. Almost a month later, I was in an accident. I called the insurance company immediately. I was issued a claim number, and was told to expect a call back in a day or two. I was even instructed on where to have the truck towed. (All American Collision) Three days passed by and I had heard nothing.
I called the toll free claims number again, and was told that they had no record of anything and that I had no right to be calling as I had been cancelled the day before the accident. What is this??? I immediately called the agent and he told me, that we was sorry but that all he could do was sell me another policy, and that he recommended that I buy one because I was now driving my other car uninsured too.
I have filed a complaint with the Texas Insurance Commissioner, but they are in no hurry to help. I am out $3800 for repairs to my truck and am slowly paying State Farm (other driver insurance) a balance of $3000. State Farm has been great in offering me a payment plan, as they seem to understand the issue.
I need some help on how to resolve this one! Let me know of any ideas you may have. Thanks
