Best Buy putting numbers ahead of employee & customer health Denver Colorado

I have always enjoyed shopping at Best Buy, and they always seemed to have employees who enjoyed their jobs. That was until I recently visited a store in Denver.

There was a noticable change from the relaxed employee atmosphere, and when I saw one young lady obvoiusly quite sick, I asked her "why aren't you home taking care of yourself?"

I was shocked by her answer. She said the new manager would fire her if she was out sick, and that another girl even went to the emergency room, but was told she "had better be on the job the next day"

It is management like this example that gives all Best Buy stores a bad rep. "Pushing the numbers" is more important than employee health, or the risk to customer's health being exposed to their illnesses.

The Best Buy management in Denver is obviously where the real illness is. Ill management is soon reflected in employee performance, and attitude. If you go into a Denver Best Buy store wear a surgical mask, and be kind to the employees . . . they are not allowed to wear them when they are forced to work visibly sick.

I work in the Denver area not at that particular location but I do work very close to that store. This much I can tell you. Never is an employee expected to show up sick, and it is discouraged for the very reasons that you mentioned. However, in this particualr industry we tend to get A TON of sick calls. Kids around my age who would rather go out with friends then go to work and when we do get sick we have kind of screwed ourselves cause no one believes it. I have done it to myself and I have a feeling that she has done the same thing.

If you heard that from an employee, then you should have talked to the store manager and then take it up with the regional manager.
