BEST BUY Rebate Rip-Off Durham North Carolina

In Feb I took advantage of an advertised offer for $75 gift card for starting Verizon high speed service. A month later I received a letter saying that Verizon was not one of the providers listed on the rebate form. I went to the store...stupid manager,Steve Brakefield, just looked at the paperwork and repeated what the letter said. He would not try to look up the ad. While there I called their 800 number where a service rep did exactly the same thing.

I began doubting myself. I called the Raleigh News and Observer, where an employee looked up the ad...I was right!!!...she sent me a copy of the ad. I called Best Buy again(their phone menu does everything it can to prevent you from talking to a live person!). This time the rep I talked to looked further into the matter, discovered that I had been given the wrong rebate form, and gave me instructions for re-submitting it.

The manager of the store was either lazy, stupid or avoiding living up the rebate offer. It was the fault of his store, and he could have looked into the matter, taken some responsibility for the problem I was having. After 1 trip, 1hour, 1 hour spent on the phone...I am waiting for my gift card.

If this is the way Best Buy takes care of it's customers I wouldn't buy any stock in the company because the public will just start buying the stuff they want from the net!!!

(Also, if you want to take advantage of one of their offers to install car stereos free, don't unless you live nearby a store, and have a day to devote to getting it done...you can't get it installed by reserving a time slot...you bring it in and hope that they can get to it that day.)

First of all, unfortunetly there are a number of lazy people in the world. Maybe that particular manager was lazy. Also maybe that was just as simple as you said. You were given the wrong report. Well, people do make mistakes. I have purchased three car stereos and a dozen speakers for my verious cars over the years, and I have never had a complaint about any of it. Oh and guess what, car audio shop are just like oil changes and tire replacement and car repair shops. Mostly they're filled with guys who know just enough to get them in and they don't want to be there. Sometimes it take time to do stuff. I know enough on how to install a car stereo, and it take a couple of hours if you have to replace everything.
