Best Buy ripoff scammers deceptive Roseville Michigan

Purchased a DVD recorder drive from the above company on 24 Feb 04 and found it incompatible with my computer. Brought back to the store where purchased, with all receipts on 10 mar 04.

The serial number and model number on the receipt matched the one on the unit. Manager scanned the UPC code and came up with the same number only with a couple other letter characters at the end. Said we did not purchase it from them, their upc codes never are wrong, and they never sold that model in their store.

They implied that we were trying to scam them. After about a half an hour of heated debate, we were told that they would do nothing for us, and if we continued to argue about it they would have us removed from the store.

The customer service was also no help, they said if the manager says the numbers don't match, they can do nothing for me

I feel that I have just been manipulated out of 200 dollars. We met all requirements of the return policy, but have no control on the way they track their inventory with upc bar codes. Seems an easy way to cheat a customer.
