We bought a memory card for our playstation for $30. The CD that you need to install the card was missing from the package. We went to return it because the card was missing. They were going to CHARGE us $10 to return it because.........THE CARD WAS MISSING!!! DUH, thats why I'm bringing it back!! So we are screwed outta $10 and have crap to show for it. Good thing I didn't have 4 boys waiting at home to play games they could save.

If you bought an off brand, (ie. Interact) Playstation 2 memory card it does require a cd for the memory card to load. Sony made the playstation 2 with built-in software to run only the Sony brand memory cards.

This was very smart on their part because now third party companys have to sell software in with their off brand memory cards. Best Buy should however have let you exchange the memory card for another exactly like the one you purchased, as long as you had a reciept.

I would recommend from now on buying only Sony brand accessories. Most of the off brand accessories are cheap and will not last as long either. So don't try saving $5 by buying a Pelican brand controller, get the real sony one and you won't have any need to return it.

I work in the Media dept (Cds, DVDs, Video Games, Software) and I vary rarely see any problems or returns of brand name accessories (Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft), Off brands however are returned and defective all the time. They are cheaply made, thats probably whey they are the cheaper price

Ok, I agree that there is no cd with the memory card bought, but I'd like to point out something to the replier.... Best Buy was willign to go along with the idea there was supposed to be a CD and wanted to charge her 10% off the return price because the nonexistant CD was gone! I mean, they should know there is no CD, and she's returning it cause it is gone.

Instead of telling her there wasn't supposed to be a CD they decide it's a great way to not return the full money (hey, we'll pretend there is supposed to be a CD and pretend not to realize that is why she brought it in). No clue why they did so, but then I've had to deal with Best Buy so I can believe it.

Now, i don't know what your kids have been telling you, but there is NO CD that is needed with Playstation memory cards, that's why it never came with one. Installing the memory card consists of you taking the card and sticking it in the slot marked "memory card." Once you have hit that stage you can save your games no problem.

I'd hate to see your house when you actually bought the Playstation.
