Purchased a 13k digital billboard from Stewart Malone, Best Signs, spent $1800 for additional electrical work. Sign stopped working 3?weeks after delivery and install. He removed sign and extorted additional money from me before her was to even repair sign. Avoid this person and company AT ALL COSTS. He will steal your sign and make you pay money before he reinstalls sign that is supposed to be under warranty. Wants all money up front even though contract says 50% upon signing... Balance due upon installation. Says install is include then charges 20-30% more and won't install until you pay.

The billboard sign is not the issue. The written agreement specified that electrical feed wires shall be of suitable capacity for the sign and the electrical feed is the responsibility of the client. The existing wiring was intermittently shorted out underground, which condition was not disclosed to Best Sign and Crane Service. The electrician hired by the client took a shortcut which ultimately resulted in damage to the display. Best Sign disassembled said sign twice, once each side, at Best Sign's expense, no additional charge to the client. Best Sign also repaired the damage caused by the faulty electrical feed wires, even though the warranty specifically excludes damage caused by the purchaser. The electrical feed stiil does not meet the specified feed capacity requirement for this display.

The original work order stated that Best Sign would use the existing sign frame if it was sound and met current code. The existing frame is ( was ) 50 years old. The frame was unsound and unsafe, unable to meet current code. Replacement was mandatory. Best Sign had acted in good faith trying to save a new business some much needed cash.

This Rip-Off Report is factually incorrect on the following points:

1) The " $1800 for additional electrical work" in fact involved merely swapping a 20 amp circuit breaker box to a 30 amp breaker. No new wire was installed andso the underground electrical problem was not properly addressed.

2) The sign minimal damage after a period of time due to the pre-existing underground electrical fault. The sign did not stop working.  Best Sign was told, incorrectly, 3 times that the needed repairs to the feed had been done.

3) The client made a total of 4 payments, 2 before services performed and 2 partial payments, the last payment being in cash whreeupon the client refused to accept a receipt.

 4) The client retains ownership and has in his posession the signs inquestion. One side (face) of the sign has 2 non-working pixel boxes due to the aforementioned pre-existing electrical fault. The signs are currently in service.

The Rip-Off Report as filed by the original complainant is an attempt to extort, by intimidation and threat of loss of future clientele through this Rip-Off Report as the instrument intending to cause financial harm to Best Sign. The level of language used rises to the level of libel and is actionable in a court of law. Best Sign and Crane has additional documentation that demonstrates complainant's premeditated intent to avoid payment and defraud Best Sign and Crane.

Best Sign and Crane has, at its own expense, purchased the necessary parts to restore the electronic display to full capacity. If and when the client can demonstrate to Best Sign's satisfaction that the necessary work to replace the sign electrical has, in fact, been done, Best Sign shall, at no additional expense to the purchaser, perform the necessary repairs. Upon completion of said repairs, Best Sign shall require payment, in full, all moneys due to Best Sign and Crane as of Friday, June 10th, 2016.
