BestBuy.com They advertised one product and sold me another. Internet
Two years ago I bought a Gateway laptop computer from Best Buy. The reason I bought this laptop was because it had a 17 monitor and came with 4-GB of RAM. The advertised spec sheet said this laptop is upgradeable to 8-GB of Ram. About two weeks ago I called the Geek Squad at Best Buy to confirm this information before I went out and spent $100.00 on the new 8-GB of RAM. They confirmed my laptop is upgradeable to 8-GB of RAM. I bought the RAM and guess what? Best Buy lied to me on two counts, one from the Geek Squad when I called to confirm and two, they defrauded me by advertising one thing online and selling me something different.
When I initially contacted Best Buy, the customer service department was rude beyond belief. When I threatened to sue and file a
complaint with the state Attorney Generals office the woman on the phone laughed in my face and said, Go ahead, we dont care.
I spoke with another customer service person that was much nicer. He asked me if I had a copy of the original speck sheet. Best Buy strongly implied they would replace my Gateway with a new laptop if I did, which is what I said I wanted, and I said I would settle for that. I dont think they thought I would be able to produce the original Speck Sheet. However, I did, it was on my old laptop from which I purchased the laptop in question.
Best Buy again, reneged on replacing my laptop with a new one
Managements response, too bad they said they would give me a meaningless cheesy little gift certificate I can spend in their store so they are not actually out any money at all. Thanks for Nothing Best Buy.
