My 19 year old son purchased a huge plasma screen tv from Best Buy for $1,400. When he opened it, he was so disappointed to see that the screen was cracked. But I said...."Just take it back!". So he put it back in the box with all the packaging and returned to the store with his receipt where he was told that Best Buy does not accept returns on damaged merchandise. When he tried to argue with the manager, the manager said "Don't bull-t me...YOU broke this tv."
My son called me from the store saying, "Mom...what should I do?" So my husband and I said "Leave the broken tv there and come home."
We sent a certified letter to the President of the Best Buy company asking him override this (rude, unprofessional) manager and to please either give us a refund or a nondamaged tv.
Best Buy's Response: Best Buy does not accept returns on damaged merchandise.
Advice: DON'T shop at Best Buy. If you do, open all merchandise IN the store in the presence of the sales person.
(We bought another tv at HH Gregg and you better believe we opened it right there in the store.)
