This review is written by an ex employee of over 11 years who was railroaded out of a job with others by Bethesda hospital management using un-ethical and possibly illegal methods. The real reasons are unknown. However also unknown to the rank and file employee's and the population at large is the hidden spy camera's seeded throughout the building and the excessive number of visible surveillance cameras.

How many people know that if you enter the skyway from the ramp going to 5-south you will have been recorded by a minimum of 7 camera's. None of these camera's are monitored they're only task is to compile evidence against employee's. I had the opportunity to speak with the Operations Executive concerning the covert spy camera that was installed in the security office, which recorded officers in various states of undress.

Her response was, "No one at Bethesda has any expectation of privacy." As of June 2011 there were over 55 overt camera's and god & management only knows how many spy camera's installed. I can only vouch for 1 at the time. More are on the way. In the late 80's I was an armed Nuclear Security Officer at a nuclear power plant in NC. The plant covered 6 acre's and was heavily guarded with 25 officers at all times. Total amount of 24/7 monitored camera's 32 permitters, 10 PTZ area camera's all external, 6 main security entry point, total 48.

I have seen Nuclear weapon storage areas with less camera coverage than Bethesda. But of course this is for your safety, NOT! Anything that happens in front of a camera is only being recorded for disciplinary purposes or posting to youtube. Being attacked, robbed, having a heart attack etc. wave at the camera all you want, nobody is watching. Something else that would be funny if it wasn't so serious concerns the Bethesda security dept. From 2002 till 2010 the dept. had a 0% turnover rate in 2010 management made the director of guest relations the security manager.

This individual has zero experience in security. Unfortunately this wasn't a requirement as this persons true job was to destroy the dept. under orders from Bethesda upper management from 2010 to 2011 the dept. suffered a 100% turnover. Mission accomplished. One of the replacement security officers who was later promoted to security supervisor by the same management is a disgraced ex Saint Paul police officer fired by the Chief of Police for excessive use of force. Later this same person was fired from the position of Chief of Police by the town of Wyoming MN.

If a ordinary person committed the same actions he or she would have been looking at approximately 30 years minimum in state prison. But the Bethesda security manager, human resources and upper management see nothing wrong here. Not too long ago Bethesda Hospital was the only HealthEast facility in the black. At present I am amazed it hasn't been closed down. A few years ago the daily census (patient population) was an average of 115 to 120 with a waiting list for new patients. At present the census averages 75 to 85 with 3-west closed for the last 3 years, 6-west closed and 4-north permanently closed and converted to a patient lounge.

Bethesda has been forced to accept violent state patients placing other patients and staff in danger in order to fill beds. The former C.E.O. of HeathEast was sent and received the charges and evidence of the crimes being committed under his feet but it was all shunted aside and whitewashed by corporate human resources. Obviously they didn't want any problems for the little amount of time the former C.E.O. had remaining. Lets hope the new C.E.O. cares about what has and is still going on at Bethesda and wields a sharper ax.

You made a valid point refering to the Joint Commission. However you then showed your true colors when you made the statement, "instead of posting your nonsense on ROR". NONSENSE??? Obviously the Joint Commission has dropped the ball. I have levied major charges, you have arbitrarily dismissed them. If you work for the Joint Commission you should think about a career change. I would advise you to forget about marketing. All of what I have said is verifiable, I would be happy to provide evidence proving the charges. Unfortunately you and the regulating agencies are more concerned with covering your butt's. This is nothing new at Bethesda, you just never saw it nor wanted to. The Joint Commission only shows up every 3 years goes through the paperwork making sure the T's are crossed the i's dotted pull out the rubber stamp and wave goodbye see you in 3 years. Are you even aware of the inspection conducted by the Minnesota Dept. of Health in 2011 concerning the operation of Bethesda, which by the way occured right after the Joint Commission inspection where they gave Bethesda a clean report. HHmmm Me thinks the Commissions nose is up someone's rear. Instead of attacking me why don't you try doing YOUR JOB.
