Better Trades A.k.a. Long Term Short Term, Inc. Recent experiences attending their presentation and application for refund Davin West Virginia
I attended a Better Trades presentation on 2/8/07. I signed up for their training program. I noticed some hard selling going on by Sales Reps following the presentation. I met a fellow who said he was a Stock Broker. He told me he knew of another company who offered a similar package of training at a much higher price and it wasn't as good as what Better Trades offered. I asked him why was he attending this presentation. He replied: "Oh, I was just curious about what they had to offer." I thought to myself: 'Sure, you're not a "plant", a "ringer", sent here to build the convidence of people like me who were trying to decide whether or not to sign up.' When I got home, it troubled me that the gap in time between signing up and the first training session was 18 days and that I had charged $3,000.00 to my American Express card and at least temporarily handed over $3,000.00 to a company I knew zero about except what was told to me at the beginning of the presentation. No documentation. No testimonial statements from reputable references and professional associations, companies; in other words, I realized that I really had no basis to place a great deal of confidence in Better Trades at this point. I know from my training received while preparing to be a Realtor, that it is Federal Law that a person has three consecutive business days plus listed Federal Holidays and Saturday and Sunday to withdraw from any contract with the exception of a contract to purchase "Real Property" otherwise known as Real Estate. So, to make a long story short, I made copies of letters, and both sides of the contract, mailed a letter to American Express and a letter and properly filled out rescending of the contract to Better Trades. It cost my around $17.00 to have the letter "Express Delivery" to Long Term - Short Term, Inc. a.k.a. Better Trades, located in Davin, WV. The letter will arrive a day and a half before the expiration of the three day deadline. I believe I made an excellent decision rescending the contract. I intend on investigating Long Term - Short Term, Inc., a.k.a. Better Trades. My only advice to others is this: If it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, walks like a duck, it's probably a duck; but, I could be wrong, it could be an eagle. Nah, it's probably a duck.
