Complaint Review: Betty Vlado

WANTED-SELF-PROCLAIMED PSYCHIC BETTY VLADO-ACTIVE BENCH WARRANT ISSUED FOR HER ARREST IN MANHATTAN, NYC

 *WANTED-

Former Manhattan (Upper East Side) self-proclaimed psychic, Betty Vlado D/O/B 01-07-1969. 

Vlado is WANTED for engaging in a fortunetelling scheme and stealing property valued at $55,000 from my two friends and me, over the course of approximately two years, from May of 2011 through April of 2013. The crime involved gaining our complete confidence and trust, and then using fear and careful managed psychological manipulation to convince us to give her money on numerous occasions. Vlado stole our money under false pretenses and by making numerous false promises and misrepresentations to us.

Betty Vlado operated out of an “Ofisa” (gypsy word for fortunetelling parlor), which was located at 247 East 77th Street in Manhattan, N.Y. The awning on the Ofisa said “Khristine Energy Crystals” on it. Vlado fled that location in early March of 2013.

She was arrested on May 21, 2013 and on September 26, 2013 she pled guilty to one count of grand larceny, one count of fortune telling, and promised to pay full restitution by January 15th 2014. (*Note-On January 15, 2014, Vlado failed to appear at her sentencing with the restitution money as promised.  As a result Manhattan Supreme Court Judge Larry Stephen issued a bench warrant for Vlado’s arrest.  Vlado will be required to spend 1-3 years in prison when she is apprehended).

Be advised that it is believed that Vlado could be hiding out and/or operating anywhere in the United States as she is believed to be part of a “transient criminal organized crime ring.”  In all likelihood, Vlado is probably using other names/aliases and dates of birth, as she intentionally failed to appear at her sentencing and she is aware of the fact that she is a wanted fugitive/criminal.  Since May 2011, Vlado has changed her cell phone number at least 5 times.

On January 15, 2014, Vlado’s defense attorney, Paul Ascher, claimed that he was unaware of her whereabouts, telling the Judge that Vlado had disconnected her phone and changed her cell phone number. Ascher asked Judge Stephen for time to reach out to “the community” to attempt to locate Vlado before the Judge issued a bench warrant for her arrest but the Judge denied Ascher’s request.

(*Note-It is believed that Ascher was referring to the “gypsy community” as Vlado is a self-purported member of the “gypsy community.” On more than one occasion, Vlado claimed that she first needed to access money from “THE FUND” belonging to “the community” in order to pay me back.) On January 16, 2013, Vlado said, “It’s not like what you gave me went into my pocket, it doesn’t work that way.” If this is not a mafia like fortune telling conglomerate, than I do not know what is!

ALLEGED FAMILY MEMBERS/ASSOCIATES-

Vlado allegedly has two sons (Michael and Nick), a daughter named Amanda, and an estranged husband named Ray Green. Vlado claimed that her alleged son, Michael, was a used car salesman in Brooklyn, N.Y. Vlado claimed that her son Nick lived in Brooklyn, N.Y and that her alleged daughter, Amanda, travelled frequently between Florida, NYC and Virginia. She purportedly once resided at an unknown address in Brooklyn, NY. I was enticed to enter Vlado’s Ofisa on the Upper East Side of Manhattan after being accosted by a woman who was allegedly named “Velvet” who was handing out “flyers.”

Below are two links to articles written by Rebecca Rosenberg of The NY Post, which feature photos of Vlado in which she wears various accessories of clothing such as a hat, scarf, and sunglasses, to disguise her identity, hence it is believed that there is a strong likelihood that Vlado defrauded many more victims and disguised herself in order to attempt to prevent others victims from recognizing her and coming forward to report her for committing additional crimes.
