beware 2000 S-10 and Blazer owners
I leased a 2000 S-10 Pickup from a local dealer on 11/12/99. I had been driving it a couple of days when it started to smell like mildew. I talked to my dealer and told them I suspected the truck may have been in the floods in North Carolina. They denied that, of course, but they ordered new carpeting for my truck. They called a few days later and said my truck was ready and the smell was 95% gone. They said there was a crack at the bottom of the gearshift and that's where the water was coming in. They told me General Motors Headquarters said the smell would evaporate in a few days. I told them that was unacceptable. They looked at it again and called me and said there was a leak in the back window. They re-steam cleaned the inside, but it still smelled. Now they are telling me the insulation under the dashboard may have gotten wet somehow. They are STILL denying the truck was caught in a flood. But I find that pretty suspicious since my brother just bought a 2000 Blazer and he is having the exact same problem I am and the dealership is giving him the same lines of bullshit that they're giving me.
