If you were/are an injured State of Texas employee, and are trying to get your Occupational Disability Retirement due to an on the job injury which is permanent, forget it.

They have the wording in their policy so tight, that you won't get it. You can take this all the way up to the Administrative Law Judge Level and won't win. Believe me, I am such a case.

I am an injured state employee. Due to my injuries, I was retired (by them) and fired, and refused my medical and dental, because of "their" wording.

I was driving doing my job, when I was involved in a car accdient. Now, driving is part of the job. It is in the job description.

Now, they, SORM (State office of Risk Management) stated that driving was not and "inherent risk perculiar to the duties of" and yes it clearly is.

The State of Texas does not take care of their employees. They work them to death (figuratively speaking), pay them little, but promise them the sky in benefits.

Well, just go and try to collect those benefits if you are ever in the need of them. They gladly take your money, but God forbid, you ever need their assistance.

An average person will quit trying. They have so much surplus money it's unbelievable. But will they pay overtime to the say Parole officers, no. That is why they are tied up in a trial THIS month, for that reason. The state doesn't want to pay the overtime owed to it's employees.

I guess my advice to all, is if you want a good job, the State of Texas is NOT it. To be honest, they suck.
