i recieved an unsolicited check for 3879.00 to become a mystery shopper.  i am going to deposit this check in my account but will not use any of the funds until it has cleared.  this sounds to good to be true which usually means it is.

You're right... it is a scam. Do NOT deposit the check. Your bank may decide to close your account when it realizes that the check is fraudulent. You don't want to deal with that.

I suggest that you contact the Financial Crimes Unit at the Secret Service.
