I tried to email Biddeford a week ago telling them about my electric blanket catching on fire. No response. I called and left a message. No response. I wonder how a company could not care at all that its blanket could have caused a devastating fire. If I were the company I would at least call and do something about this so I could quiet a person about their unsafe products.

just a cord and connector that was blown out. This can happen for several reasons, one an obvious defect and another from pulling on the cord instead of the connector when disconnecting it. If you've had the blanket for awhile, the most likely cause is strain on the cord at this connector. It's rare for this to occur on it's own as the cord wire is welded to the plug prongs and then the piece retaining the cord, the strain relief, is bonded to the cord.

If your blanket really did, as you say, catch fire, notify the cpsc.

No, I don't work for the company, but offer this rebuttal from experience repairing electrical items and electronics over many years.

NEVER pull on the cord to unplug ANY electrical items...it is potentially dangerous.
