I stupidly signed up on a "free" penny auction website, and apparently there are many, to buy items for "pennies on the dollar." They advertise such things as Ipads and televisions for just a few dollars. When it all began looking too good to be true and I called my credit card company to cancel, I discovered that every time I bid on something I was charged $99.00 instead of a penny.
No one answers their advertised phone number (877/540-7219), and there is no one to contact online. Although I talked to the fraud people at my credit card company, they weren't interested in pursuing these guys. I guess there are too many of them, and it has to be done by somebody like the FBI anyway, but now they have my name, address, telephone number, credit card info and all the rest of it.
