Complaint Review: Big Boys Moving and Storage

I had a verbal agreement with Big Boys Moving..  which was verified by the person who called me…the agreement was to move our entire office for one flat fee of $1,400.00.  This was to include taking apart and reassembling of any desks or furniture needed.  You had told us you would have your truck at our location between the hours of 7 and 9am.   They did not arrive until after 10:30 and did not start until 11 am.  When they arrived the contract was not as we had agreed. 

Meagan told us that the fee was flat…that even if it took 2 days it would be one flat rate of $1400.00.  She never told us about needing a deposit, only that she needed a card to have on file…then you turn around and charge my card $500.00. 

When I called your office and spoke with Christina, she told her it would be hard for us to find another mover at this late.  (or in other words, take what I offer or you are screwed). 

This is not the way to run a business.  Even your mover Joshua Moorehead told us that he has had the same issue with other moves booked by Meagan. 

I have 11 other issues which I will list below:

1)      You sent 3 men to do the job…one was a driver who never got out of the truck to help.  He did not move a thing…simply sat in the truck and read a book and napped.  Christina told Ginger that the 3^rd guy was there specifically to set up the cubicles.  The cubicles were NOT reassembled and I had to pay another person to do this job!

2)      Your contract says you would work 13 hours for the $1400 (not our agreement of the flat rate…but what you sent out with your movers)…they only worked 12 hours…

3)      Your driver sent me a text message after 6 hours asking about their tip…telling me they wanted me to pay them a tip and it should be 10% for each mover.  I felt like I was being held up again!!  We were never told in advance about a tip and paying the movers separately.  I have kept the text message to verify this.

4)      The tiki bar in the office was not assembled correctly…I told Joshua that it was incorrect and he laughed and blamed the guy sitting in the truck…it was not fixed and I had to pay another person to repair it when your guys left…

5)      Your movers but a big gash in the new office wall…and did not tell anyone…simply tried to cover it up with a file cabinet.

6)      Completely destroyed the front office desk with not properly disassembling the desk. 

7)      Second desk was also damaged when they attempted to move without disassembling it as well after they were told it had to be moved in 3 pieces. 

8)      They scratched the hardwood floors in 4 places at the old location…not little scratches…I have pictures o f the damage to review. 

9)      They removed the office doors at the old location and did not replace them.  I had to pay another person to do this. 

10)   The dropped a box containing expensive liquor and broke 2 bottles and got slivers of glass on the others. 

11)   They drug furniture into the new location causing carpet burns on the carpeting.  This does not come out and the new landlord is upset saying this carpet must now be replaced…this has gotten us off to a bad foot with our new landlord.

In addition, your movers did not complete this job.  I have used your company 7 other times and have never had a disaster like this.  (Obviously I would not have used you so many times if this were the case)   The movers were very slow and were not up to my expectations from the previous moves I have done. 

I had to rent a U-Haul truck and pay 4 others to complete the job that you should easily have done in the time you allotted.  If you will check your records, you moved me from a 5500 sq ft office to the old office in South Tampa in July 2011 and did it in one day.  That included stopping at a storage and dropping 3 units full of furniture.  It was with only 3 men.   Now…you are unable to even move half of a 1700 sq ft office in 12 hours?

I have spoken to other movers who say that is an issue with this mover and that they have heard other horror stories regarding their service.  

I RECOMMEND STEERING CLEAR OF THIS MOVER!  THERE ARE MANY OTHER REPUTABLE MOVERS OUT THERE...THIS IS NOT ONE!!
