Complaint Review: Big O Tires

I had a new set of tires installed at Big O.  They added an Optional Tire Protection Plan for $54.00 without asking me if I wanted to or telling me anything about it.

It sounds like this may be a fairly common practice in order to get extra money from customers.  They didn't give any paperwork on how to use the Tire Protection Plan, or even what it was, just quietly charged for it. 

From what I understand, the plan is so that you can get a discount on road-side service if something happens to your tire...however they don't give the customer any info on the plan or how to use it.  Also it doesn't look like the TP covers much, and AAA already gives protection and roadside service.

Big O should be more honest if they want to upsell the plan.  Stop charging people for extra things without telling them or asking permission.

I'm concerned about how many women or elderly people they may be charging for a Tire Protection Plan and not letting them know it's an optional service...and also not letting them know how to use the service.
