I registered with bigredwire.com for long distance service back in November of 2000 and have been trying to get it cancelled for a month. I notified them at least 3 times to cancel the service, each time getting a response from them saying "your service has been disconnected", yet I continued to receive charges for calls I made. When notified, they pointed out a statement in their member agreement that says "you are still responsible for any bigredwire call charges if they occur after your cancellation of service or switch to another carrier."

If this is the case, couldn't they keep charging my account indefinitely?? I have repeatedly told them to cancel my account and they CONFIRM this, but charges continue to accrue. In addition, their web site is extremely vague and there is no phone number listed to contact them, and most of the e-mails they list do not respond to my e-mails. It is a very shady operation....

They also charged me $10 for a credit card decline fee because I cancelled my card, but undoubtedly they will continue to try to charge it and accumulate those $10 fees on top of each other. I have filed complaints with the Better Business Bureau, FCC, and FTC and a number of places like this. Unfortunately, it's difficult to contact them when there is no phone number or address listed on their site to contact them!! I had to do a WHOIS lookup on Network Solutions to find out their address.

bigredwire told me they would resort to legal action over the $17.19 outstanding balance which I am disputing.

AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS!

when it is in the form of a check. After I called them on this, they magically got their CC system to work and I found my card was charged. They did, however, credit me with $6 for "miscellaneous" and "good will"!! (How generous of them!).

I disputed the charge with my credit card company a month ago, and yesterday justice was served (haha). The charges have been reversed!! We will see if they decide to pursue legal action as their member agreement says they will in cases like this. I doubt they will, because they know they will lose.
