Why is Bill Quimby Owner of Tollfreenumbers.com Hiding and Being Deceitful?

I recently had a new client signup for our Identity services, while on the telephone with him he mentioned that he was recently conned out of $195 by a man named Bill Quimby. Being 77 years old, my client is quick to forgive because, and I quote.. he has lived a long life and it's too darn short to try to recoup your losses everytime you get scammed. Sometimes it's best just to forget about it and move on.

At the age of 52, I may be young compared this guy, but I disagree on his logic. If he is 77 years old getting scammed by Bill Quimby and he just forgets about it and moves on, it allows the scam to continue and propagate to other unsuspecting elders and youngsters.

I didn't mention to my client that I was going to do a preliminary investigation on his behalf; after all, I have the know how to type in a few keystrokes and do a little more research on the subject of Bill Quimby.

I found out that Bill S. Quimby is the owner and proprietor of a website called Tollfreenumbers.com in addition to about 300 others. The first thing I noticed when I began this inquiry is the address that Bill Quimby uses:
2517 Route 44, Unit 11-222 / Salt Point, NY 12578

Quimby claims this to be his business address even mentioning that he is located in prestigious New York. After about two more keystrokes I was able to uncover that this address is actually another business that says they offer Free drop off point for FedEx, UPS, DHL and US Mail

So Quimby is using a false address to perpetrate his crimes against the elderly.

A quick free search on peoplesearch shows no record of any Bill Quimby or William Quimby ever living in New York. Then I remembered something my wife once told me, a quote from sex and the city.. New Jersey is the armpit of New York I wondered if he thinks NY is prestigious because he actually operates out of a preverbal arm pit (no offence Jersey folks.)

I repeated my peoplesearch using NJ as the state and sure enough, there is a Bill S Quimby living in Ramsey New Jersey Why do all the scams come out of New Jersey and Florida? I double checked and it is really him!

Bill Quimby's REAL address is:
106 DARLINGTON AVE RAMSEY, NJ 07446

This is the motto of most scammers Do not work where you livein other words, don't con people in your home town. So Quimby was smart and said he is from NY. Apparently he has been doing this in the shadows for over 10 years.

Googling this address reveals that Mr Quimby has used this address to register Quimby Enterprises where he runs a number of multi level marketing programs, one for Amway and some other pyramid schemes.

Bill S Quimby was born May 2 1966 to Hope and Jim Quimby.
Hope was born in New York. Met future husband James Quimby (Jim, from Wyckoff New Jersey) and got married and moved to Ramsey New Jersey. Had three sons and one daughter William S Quimby, Kenneth H Quimby, Karl Quimby, and Lisa Quimby. Lisa is a School Teacher in New Jersey (we can discuss that in another report)

I have also found a number of other website that are ran by Bill and his brothers Ken and Karl.

Read how Quimby Enterprises is fooling the Internal Revenue Service on his annual Tax Return and shorting the American tax payer on thousands of government dollars.

It appears that this family ran long con is soon to be gone.

Googling Bill Quimby reveals that he has admitted breaking the law over 1000 times per month. He actively seeks out people to buy his Long Distance phone services from him and then he slams (the scam) their phone bills. It is contrary to FCC laws to broker toll-free phone numbers. But Bill Quimby's entire business is molded around doing just that, he sells phone numbers, over 1000 per month according to his website Tollfreenumbers.com. He even has a post on his blog where he asks his readers to answer this question: Am I breaking the FCC law by selling toll free numbers for a fee? He has about 5 comments on that post, all from his regular buyers, all saying that they buy a lot of phone numbers from Bill Quimby each month and he is not breaking the law. Another comment was from Bill Quimby himself saying that what he wrote is pure brilliance talk about tooting your own horn. There is also a comment from one Gil Holloway of vanity800tollfree.com. Gil admittedly buys desirable toll free numbers from Quimby regularly and then resells them for a fixed monthly fee on his website vanity800tollfree.com. This is just one stone in this pyramid scheme with Bill Quimby at the top.

I tracked down Bill Quimby's phone number1-800-MARKETE (800-627-5383) and called him to discuss giving back my clients money. Quimby confirmed to me that he is selling toll free phone numbers for a fee ranging from $49.99 (self-serve) upto $4,999 depending on how valuable he determines your phone number to be. He told me that his phone number would cost $4,999 because of how great it is (1-800-MARKETER.) I advised him that I am an investigator representing my client and my phone call is an attempt to recoup my clients $195. Quimby immediately became hostile and said If __clients_name__ wants his money so bad, he can just take me to court for it himself he then rudely hung up the phone on me. I called back just to hear a recording that my phone number has been blocked from calling.

I called again from line two and Quimby answered again in a polite and friendly voice, but when he detected that it was me again he started yelling into the phone that his website gets over 1,000,000 hits a month and he has a loyal group of followers that read his blog and upon his command he can instruct them to flood my business with calls rendering me inoperable if I ever call back. He also said he is going to write a new blog about me using my name and company so that people searching the internet will find it and read bad things about me.

I told Quimby that I sent a registered letter to his New York address and it was returned to me as an undeliverable address, he responded that it was returned because he returned it to me himself because I have no business mailing him a letter without first obtaining verbal authorization to do so from Bill Quimby himself. Jokes on him, I never mailed a letter. This was his attempt to pretend that his New York address is real.

Quimby, besides having major legal problems now also suffers from severe emotional and mental distress. This is evident in the way he treated me and my client. Further evidence of this is the numerous reports filed with the Better Business Bereau and those listed on line (just google BILL QUIMBY) he has apparently tried to extort and slander many people on his blog in the past who cross paths with Quimby. He has even responded to some ripoffreports (ripoffreport.com) that some of his past targets have filed against him, after reading his response and his hostility against his own customers is obviously a disturbed man and possibly dangerous to himself and others. Violence may be this man's next step if he has not done so already. Why is Bill Quimby still roaming the streets of New Jersey a free man?

If this con doesn't sit well with you, please contact the Federal Communication Commission and let them know that Bill S Quimby of New Jersey is Selling and brokering toll-free numbers for a fee at his website Tollfreenumbers.com.

The most decietful scams are from falsely accusing others

#4General Comment

Fri, September 29, 2017

To the person who wrote that Bill Quimby is a scam, and anyone who reads this foolish complaint.

I am also a customer of Bill Quimby and his services for several years. Bill has been EXTREMELY helpful to myself and my company. I talked with him also personally on the phone and he was not only super helpful, but also encouraged me NOT to purchase more numbers than I needed--even when I was prepared to do so...just in case...

Ironic that you call him a scam and encourage others to report him. I would imagine you have already reported him and your cries of scam have been fruitless as he is still in business and providing valuable services to his many clients.

Reality check:-- If you found his real address, so the law could also (even easier) find his real address. Also If it was such a monumental scam as you claim, they would have stopped him by now, as he is very easy to find and contact--personally.

Especially you as apparently someone trying to "protect your client", you ought to know the law better than most, so why haven't you made sure he is shut down so he cannot hurt others? there can only be one of two answers.

1st, it really isn't a scam and you have some unfounded, irrational claims OR,

You lack the integrity to do what needs to be done and are trying to take the easy way out and try to convince someone else to solve your problem...as is the current American trend on non-sense.

Either way, I know several people who are very grateful for Bill Quimby's services (very valuable services...and entirely viable, because now those phone numbers enable us to do business better.--with 0 negative side affects to anyone who benefits by them (business owners, employees and consumers). That if free-enterprise and capitalism at work in this "Greatest Country of God's Greed Earth...

Why don't you either fix the problem or stop whinning about it.. At this point it is YOUR problem and nothing to do with anyone elses problem... once you fix it within yourself, you will be amazed at how much better your life will be.

Enjoy, and go catch your own dreams instead of pointing fingers and being jealous of others because they are catching theirs....

Tollfreenumbers.com is by far thge best vanity number broker

I have bought more than fifty 800 numbers and have engaged more then a half dozen number brokers. Bill is a very principled person, I have also found their staff is polite and a typical personable small business. I have built 10+ companies and spent 100's of hours with toll free and vanity marketing for what its worth. ie I have also learned the hard way.

If the previous persons client was buying a vanity or 800 number just to have toll free capability for a small business he probably bought the wrong number, $195 might be to much for a one man band that doesn't advertise. Bill offers $49 dollar toll free numbers too.

If the elderly gentleman actually buys media advertising at $600 per minute it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that the difference between 14 responses vs 7 could be $10's of thousands of dollars in lost revenue. Yes numbers and content can create this variance. The fact that Bill doesn't want wackos knocking on his door at all hours of the day and night makes him a bad person? I don't think so, I don't think the original poster does either, I noticed his name and home address remained anonymous too.

The posters concern for his client are no less relevant, but based on my 8 year history with Bill nothing close to the experiences I have had. I highly recommend tollfreenumbers.com

Bill Quimby MISREPRESENTED in this Report

#4Consumer Comment

Tue, April 28, 2015

First, let me state that I do not know Bill Quimby personally, have never met the man, have never even spoken to the man on the telephone.  I have, however, been a customer of Bill Quimby's for better than 10 years purchasing 4 or 5 different toll free numbers from his company over those years and have corresponded with him via eMail whne necessary for problem resolution.  He has NEVER been anything but courteous, professional and most helpful.

The service that Bill Quimby provides is one of convenience.  It's a d**n sight easier to go to his website and punch up vanity numbers and allow him to perform the search for you than to attempt to get it from a LD carrier.  Once purchased, Bill has ALWAYS been instrumental in filing the necessary paperwork (i.e. Resporg) in order to have the number transferred to the LD carrier of my choosing ... even going as far as to assist with the clerical errors that "the big boys" invariably make when attempting to transfer numbers.

That's my experience, plain and simple.  I have no idea why someone would write such uneducated filtergarb regarding the capitalistic nature of number portability and the fact that Bill Quimby has found a niche market doing so.  The convenience he provides is a valuable resource.

Respectfully Submitted,

Alan H. Hays
