Bills Meineke Discount Mufflers installed wrong part and part not installed right Baton Rouge Louisiana
On 6/02 took to shop to replace muffler that had hole in it. Supposedly both tailpipes I was told was being replaced also on this visit. Had driven for a few days before with very loud noise due to hole. Upon leaving noticed sound was much quieter, told probaly due to sound being so loud previous few days.
Car never sounded quite the same but thought maybe the manufacturer of the flowmaster muffler I had previously had on car had changed some things owning up to the new one sounding different. Driving at night on 12/03 heard a loud noise and after getting out saw whole tailpipe was hanging and dragging underneath car. Am a woman and was stuck with no way to remove nor call for help.
Fortunately very nice gentleman stopped and cut gasket holding pipe. Upon inspection friend informed me that the reason car sounded different after repair work was the flowmaster muffler and pipes was replaced with a stock muffler and pipes. Hence reason for loss of gas mileage and power problem solved also with this info. Husband took to shop for warranty and to question why failure happened and was told only the other tailpipe was replaced on previous visit.
Also questioned why stock muffler was used and no answer given. Shop replaced broken tailpipe with $122 cost to me. After every time am on rough road or turn corner I hear a knock near the rear. Took back to shop and was told everything looked good and sound was from shifting of muffler due to rubber gaskets holding thing in place. Was also not given answer when again asked why they replaced flowmaster muffler with stock.
Dealt directly with manager and he acted as if he was so aggravated at me questioning the work. Was very short almost to the point of being blatently rude. Will cost around 300 dollars to replace with flowmaster again and other shop that looked at work said the pipes were bent wrong causing the thing to knock when turning and on rough roads. I would just like them to put back what was on the car-FLOWMASTER MUFFLER AND CORRECT SIZE TAILPIPES!!!!!

Mr Bill contacted me and throughout whole conversation gave the impression they had done nothing wrong and the problem must be something else bec'ause their work was done correctly. Told me to bring by to LOOK at again. Told him after doing this two times to no avail was a waste of time plus I had the car already scheduled at another shop the next day to correct their mess up. Kept telling me to forget the other shop and bring it to them to LOOK. Regardless, car went to other shop, I was shown the pipes off the car and the new pipes going on the car. Bends in pipes were totally different. The new pipes were installed along with Flowmaster type muffler and lo behold, I have gas milage and performance back and NO NOISE even on very rough roads. Sent letter to Bill letting him know this with no response recieved.
