Birch Communications /Cbeyond will deny ports, will refuse to discontinue billing. atlanta nationwide

after having been with cbeyond/Birch communications for many years and put up with worse service i gave them notice that i intended to switch to another provider. birch communications made the porting of the phone numbers so difficult i decided to let a couple of numbers go rather than fight for them any more. after much pain, i managed to get my primary phone number ported to a new provider and told birch/cbeyond to discontinue all service. this was fine for several months when suddenly they started charging me again and said it was because of a mobile line that hadnt been disconncted.. i called, and after much phone time was told customer service would get back to me. they never did. when they automatically charged my Amex i successfully charged it back.  next month, no bill. the following month, they AGAIN started billing me and again, after much phone time, i was told i hadnt done what i needed to do to discontinue service on a Land line. They act like this is their last nickel and they will starve without my money. how hard is it to understand "discontinue all service."  for a "Communications company" they sure communicate.
