We purchased Bitdefender Total Security 2013 in 2012.  It took over our system and finally crashed our computer. Despite numerous calls to their "technical service" nothing was ever resolved. We purchased a new computer and installed  Internet Security from a different company on this computer.  No way were we interested in using Bitsdefender again.

However, we received an email from Bitdefender on October 29, 2013 stating that our online order placed on that date had been processed.  What online order? One minute later we received an email stating that payment for our "supposed" online order had been processed.

I rang the contact number and told them that we did not authorize this payment or renewal.  I was told that I had clicked the auto renewal box when I first downloaded the program in 2012.  Who in their right mind would click on auto renewal if you do not know how a program works?  I know that we definitely would not.

Then I was told that they had sent me emails stating that our subscription was about to end.   An email stating that our subscription was about to expire does not constitute our permission to debit funds from our bank account.

I aked to speak to a supervisor.  After about half an hour, I was put through to someone who stated that they were a supervisor.  I was told the same line about auto renewal and emails.  Both my husband and I spoke to this "supervisor" and told him that we wanted a refund as this was not only fraud, but theft as well.

We were told that we would receive an email for the refund within 48 hours.  Still waiting .However, a few hours later we did receive another email stating that we still had a few days left on our license. So, if that was the case why did they debit our account for a fictional online order?

Our bank has been notified and they are doing an investigation.  Next step report it to FTC. I would not recommend this product to anyone if this is indicative of how the company operates.
