wow, where do I start........ the people for whom you have the harsh words for, I have known personally for many years, I find it a travisty for two of the absolute finest people I have ever met to be subjected to this. Rob and April worked at ups before they pursued a passion for harleys, a company that instills pride and supreme work ethic in any employee that makes it, they were both there for many years. It sounds to me that rob tried to do whats right to make this guy happy, however the root cause of the complaint seems to be the lack of knowledge on the consumers part, maybe he should have done this homework he suggests to others before he bought a bike. If a salesman shoots you a price man he is working on commission, you can negotiate, why would he sell you a bike under msrp if you are willing to pay msrp? nobody made you buy it for that price. As far as the wrong part is concerned thats too bad that someone made a mistake, wish we all were perfect. For the financing part, if there were any numbers on your contract that you couldnt comprehend it may have been an attempt on aprils part to get a better finance rate from eagle or to get you financed at all, I assume that since your mommy had to sign with you that may have been an issue. If you put 1000 down you didnt make it to the 20% mark that harley wants but if you add 500 to the price and show 500 more downpayment you would barely make it and qualify for a lower interest rate. I bought a new ultra limited last month and could not be happier and could not have been treated better by every one at black diamond. I deal with hundreds of people every week and I can tell you first hand that black diamond is top shelf!!

OK Anthony, from the dealers own rebuttal it was $7479. and then sales tax at 6.25 adds another $467. = $7946. less your $1000. down = $6946. more or less....by the way, did this bike have the lace wheels? Or the standard wheels? The lace wheels would eat up about half your down payment, but lets assume it was a bare bones Sportster......even at the figures above, you were not ripped off...go to HD website and do the math using their payment calculators.....you keep saying $9K but what you fail to include is your financing details...i.e. APR/Term..did you finance it for 60 months?? Or for 36 months? Do you have decent credit and get it for 8%?? Or does your credit suck and you got it for 18%?? Or even more??
Its these little details that are left out that make me question your claims of being ripped off....even using the numbers above, the dealer gave you a good deal...the set up charges alone were a value compared to some other HD dealers....right in that area....
What is your payment? And how many are there? Is the total of your payments where you come up with this figure of $9K?? Face it friend, you were not ripped off! You are fighting a losing battle here, posting reports here, the troops will rally with this dealer and stand behind him, as I am, hoping you see the light.
Until then, enjoy your bike!

Well there it is rob says 7449 for bike but says nothing of 1,000 for down payment i paid which is 8449.00 then after tax etc it was 9055,00 before finance charges ,,,I have all paper work to prove this so him saying i got a good deal is wrong AND im not saying everyone is gonna get a bad deal or sevice here BUT i did he tries to cover the facts and hide the truth on my deal I went there by word of mouth so he probally gave a good deal but when you look at what i paid out the door for a plain 07 883 9055.00 thats not a good deal i could have bought a custom for that he is not telling of down payment and how they know they got me and gave me a gift card because they knew they did wrong and all in all the regular person who did the financing was not there that day thats why i got ripped if they would have been there maybe i would have got a better deal but at this point no i did not AND ID THINK ANY ONE WOULD SAY OVER 9000,00 FOR THIS BIKE IS HIGH

Not my experience...

I googled Black Diamond HD's for their holiday hours and was shocked to see the Ripoff Report. I am a Sr Pastor at a church in metro Alanta, GA. and I planned to stop in to BD HD on my way back home to west central Illinois.
I can't keep quiet. I have driven over 400 miles to purchase and service my Harley I bought from Rob Hocking. In fact, I purchased a Road King and traded it in a year later for my current Street Glide. I mention this because I price shopped at least 6 different dealers before buying either bike and no one offered a better "complete package price" than Rob, the sales manager.
We live in a day and age when it seems anyone can make any "accusation" they want. I want to state my experience was Great. I would not hesitate to recommend Rob to any of my friends or family. He treated me very fair and never misrepresented any price or service. If I could, I would buy another Harley from him as soon as I could afford one.
Thanks for allowing my response,

All of these figures, with the exception of setup, are viewable on the Harley-Davidson website. Setup fee varies from dealer to dealer, but almost every dealer charges it except sometimes on non-current models. $299 is a very reasonable charge for setup. Some dealers charge up to $800. The previous owners of this dealership charged $399.
This is why I add freight, setup, and any applicable charges for options into my pricing. That way, the total price is out in the open before papers are signed. I'm sure that any member of the sales staff would have gladly explained the price of the bike or our pricing structure in general. That is just the problem. These questions or objections are typically dealt with BEFORE the ink is dry. We can't overcome problems that we don't know exist. The only reason that I knew about this report is that I got a courtesy phone call from an employee of Bruce Rossmeyer Harley-Davidson in DAYTONA BEACH FL.(900 miles away!) who told me that Anthony called him inquiring about their prices on 883 Sportsters, and generally spilling his guts about how he thinks he got screwed. The gentleman I spoke with said that he assured Anthony that he paid a fair price. Since this has happened a second report has appeared on Ripoffreport.com in Anthony's mothers name.
In regards to the issue with parts, I don't know what kind of handlebars that Anthony requested a quote on. I do know, however, that our labor rate is much cheaper than our surrounding competitors. There are many different things that can factor into the price of a set of bars: height, width, brand, black or stainless steel braided cables, installed or over-the-counter, with or without internal wiring, stainless steel or chrome, etc. Anyone who has ever accessorized their Harley-Davidson motorcycle can attest to this. Again, this is the problem. A new or inexperienced owner sometimes may not know if they are comparing apples to apples when gathering quotes. Any dealer can quote a handlebar price and neglect to mention additional charges but, as I mentioned before, that is not how we like to do business. It sounds as though we may have ordered the wrong part, and for this I genuinely apologize. One thing we will never claim to be is perfect. Perhaps the mistake could have been handled with a little more finesse. If the nonchalant attitude of the parts employee( assuming this is what truly happened) had been brought to my attention I would have seen to it that the situation had been resolved to the customer's satisfaction. I guess I am just old fashioned in that I prefer to handle problems as they arise, rather than festering about it for a couple of months and complaining to someone 900 miles away or writing an internet report about it.
We took over this dealership in early August, and have worked very hard to prove to customers that we care about their business. We have sold more bikes in under five months than the previous owners did in a year. I am told by many customers on a daily basis how happy they are that we bought the dealership and how much happier they are with our service, attitude, selection, etc. Our goal is to dominate our market while striving for 100% customer satisfaction. That is why I would like to extend an invitation to Anthony to call or come in and talk to me personally to get this situation resolved. I don't want to have any unsatisfied customers for any reason.
Sincerely,
Rob

I haven't bought from the new owners, but bought 3 Harleys from Campbells and was always treated fairly, never had service problems, and got good deals. Have bought Harleys from Dales in Mt. Vernon and Legacy in Effingham and the deals were all comparable to Campbells. I've even bought bikes/parts from Bruce Rossmyers in Daytona, and the prices were comparable to Illinois dealers.....just because the MSRP is there, does NOT mean thats the price the dealer has to sell it to you at!! The "S" in MSRP means "SUGGESTED", its not set in stone!! Maybe the dealer had added fees to the MSRP, like DOC FEES, Dealer Prep, etc......did you give the dealer the opportunity to make things clear, or did you get to talking to some other Harley owner that told you that you got screwed? Have you ever bought a Harley before? Have you ever heard of dealer markup?
Doesn't sound to me like you got screwed over........was this an 07 or an 08 Sportster? I wouldn't hesitate to buy an 08 Sportster for $7449.00!! Thats a good price!!
What are you leaving out here?
