Blackbird Industries A1 Outboard Ripping customers off selling crap outboard motors and not standing by warranty West Sanbury, Pennsylvania
On April 28th we contacted 1outboard.com about purchasing a 125HP Remanufactured Mercury Outboard from their website in the amount of $4150.00.We spoke to Mike Demayo for a long period of time about the purchase. That the motor would be bolt on and go. We also discusse the warranty, how it works and how you would execute it if something went wrong with the motor. We were satisfied with the answer that we received. So at that point I gave hime $500.00 deposit to hold the motor. He was suppose to ship us the motor to my home address. After several phone calls after the shipping of the motor and it not arriving. I found out that they had the motor shipped to Tampa at the FEDEX dock over there and that I would have to drive and go pick it up. On 5/24/2010 I went and picked up the motor. We paid a person to uncrate the motor, put the motor on and take the boat for a test drive. Upon the first test drive the motor would not plane out and and the engine kept shutting off. We pulled the cowl on the motor to see that there was fuel leaking from the fuel pump assembly. So we changed out that part. The next day the boat was taken again for a test drive and the motor would not plane out and kept stalling. I called Mike and told him about the fuel pump assembly and he got very rude about putting parts on the motor. We then took the boat to a certified mercury mechanic. He called Mike at A1 to tell him that the starter was bad on the motor and that he needed a new one. After several pnone calls and compalints the starter finally arrived 2 1/2 weeks later but it was the wrong starter. So we purchased a starter. One we got the boat running it was out of time and the carbs needed adjustment. Once again the boat was taken for a test drive now only to have a very loud knock in the engine. We called mike back only for him to get very rude. We asked for the motor to be fixed. After 3 weeks of calling and getting the rum around he still does nothing. After several attempts to resolve the matter. I contacted the BBB, the attorney generals office, the state attorneys office the IFC. Now the discussion has proceeded to an internet forum that has recently gotten very heated. If you wish to read all the posts please go to read the entire story. I am am not the only person he has ripped off the victims go on and on. This vompany needs to be stopped. Now I am stuck with a motor and I am out around $5,000.00. Please visit this link to get the whole story were I have documented everything on this forum.

We tried, but some people are just not happy!

Our company, in good faith, sent an outboard motor that we felt was in good running condition, with a remanufactured powerhead, and all other components checked out. We gave a one year warranty to insure her of that. She still owed us a trade in order to close out her account as" paid in full".
That said, she was mad that she had to go to the freight terminal to pick up her motor because she chose not to pay for residential, lift-gate fees, which would have added $175 to her shipping charges.
Now the trouble starts and nothing can make her happy!
Bottom line, she still owes us either the rest of the money or her trade in. Our warranty clearly states that all invoices must be paid in full, but we did send her parts that she claimed she needed without the" supposedly" defective parts being sent back - and she still owes us money or her trade. How many companies would even go that far?
We try hard to make things right when it is our fault, but we feel, that enough is enough.
