Complaint Review: Blair And EZ SAVER

In March, I ordered some blouses from Blair on the Internet. I had ordered from this company's catalogs before, so I trusted the site. Over the next few months, I did quite a bit of shopping and did not notice an EZ saver charge for $14.95 that appeared each month.

Finally, I noticed the charge, thinking it was for an internet account that I had canceled. When I called my internet provider, they told me this charge was not for internet service. When I called EZ saver, I was told that I had signed up for a monthly shopping club when I ordered from Blair.

I informed the EZ SAVER operator that I had not signed up for this service, and she curtly told me that I had failed to read the fine print when I received a discount on the blouses I ordered. She said she would credit my card for two months. I am usually very careful and wary about such offers, so I cannot see how I would have approved this, unless the box is already checked, etc. When I asked why I had not been sent any information after signing up for this supposed "club," she said, "We sent you somthing, and we are not responsible to make sure you received it."

This to me is credit card fraud. The EZ SAVER company knows that out of so many people, some will not be able to read the fine print, or will assume that because they are dealing with a legitimate company that all will be fine. The company also knows that in this busy day and age, many, like me, will somehow overlook the transaction on their credit card.

I am embarrassed, but I have learned a valuable lesson. My bargain blouses were not bargains. I also will not deal with Blair in the future. I have written a letter to Blair, and I am also notifying my credit card company.
