Hi all..

This came across another list that I am on and they encouraged us to cross-post it. I'm not sure exactly where to post this, so mods if you need to move it please feel free. I just thought that anyone who rescues or transports should know...
Permission to crosspost DNARTF (Do not allow to adopt, rescue, transport or foster) 11/29/09 Lin Allen Known email addresses and possible aliases Lin:<bleumoonfarms@yahoo.com> Lin:<flamev8@bellsouth.net> Lin: <flamev8@bleumoonkennels.com> Lin:< bleumooncattledogs@yahoo.com> Lin:< info@bleumoonkennels.com> Katie:<ktgeteup@yahoo.com> Carriere, MS Slidell, LA

Piper is a 2 1/ 2 year old cattle dog that was rescued and owned by K. Bentley and owner of Tomorrow’s Hope Canine Training and Behavior Rehabilitation Services (http://tomorrowshopedogcenter.com/) in Portsmouth, OH. Piper is an extremely energetic deaf ACD that in all probability experienced a head injury while in the care of her original purchasing owner. Many of her behaviors (poor impulse control, sudden unannounced aggression towards other dogs, barking, etc) are reminiscent of a dog with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) or head injury.

On Dec 11, 2008, Kim announced to the deaf dogs yahoo group that Piper had come out of her crate that morning and attacked her other three dogs, unprovoked as far as Kim could tell. It was the last of a long series of events to occur and Kim felt she had little choice left but to euthanize Piper.

Lin Allen offered to take her to her home in MS. In one of her messages posted on Dec 11, 08, she mentions that she has 500 acres, 400 of which were dedicated to cattle, and the remaining 100 dedicated to home, horses and dogs. She felt that Piper would be able to be given a job there and would settle down, or Lin’s other ACDs would settle her down. Lin breeds and sells ACDs and other breeds and has purchased or co-owns a few ACD show dogs. She posted pictures of her place on the deaf dogs list.

For the first time in Kim’s rescue career, she did not do an application, or a home check or any of the other routine rescue procedures. She was just so relieved to have a place for Piper to go where she could burn up much of her energy and live. However, she didn’t completely throw rescue protocol out the window. She did have people she knew encouraging her to send Piper to Lin because they had had dealings with Lin and knew that Lin was sporting one of the top AKC show dogs in the US. Piper was flown to MS in January, 09. At first, things seemed to be going well. Lin shared stories of how the other dogs were putting Piper in her place; how Piper would go to the pond and swim, chase the other dogs, etc.

Over a period of months, it became evident that Lin was having some issues with Piper, and in Aug of 09, Kim offered to take her back, because her living situation had changed. I accepted the position of transport coordinator and chose to set up ground transport, as neither Lin nor Kim had the money to fly Piper back to Ohio. Piper was transported the weekend of Sept 19 and 20, 09.

Below are the issues and discoveries that occurred as a result of this transport.
1. Piper was not sent on transport with a current rabies vaccine, nor was a health certificate provided. In all of the cross state line transports I arrange, I require a health certificate. Lin was informed of this and stated in the “Passenger info form” that she filled out to provide info on Piper that one would be provided. She also stated that Pipers shots were UTD, although she did mention that Piper no longer had a rabies tag because she ate her collar and the tags were lost.

When confronted about this after the transport was complete, she finally admitted that she had never updated Piper’s rabies vaccine (In January, she stated her vet would not provide another rabies vaccine because it had not been a year. The vaccination expired in March, 09). She also stated that she does not get health certificates because she would go broke if she did with the number of show dogs she has traveling all over the country. She felt my requirement was stupid, because patrol officers have far better things to do than to stop people with dogs asking for health certificates. She totally disregarded proof that every state that Piper passed through required a health certificate.

2. She sent Piper with a huge colony of fleas. The first three drivers of the transport were concerned enough about the fleas that they chose to treat her, out of their own pockets for the fleas with Capstar, and Advantix. The overnight person chose to spray her down with Ovitrol before allowing her in the house.

When confronted, Lin stated that her property was far too large (30 acres-see above) to maintain a flea free place. She only treats the two small dogs that sleep in her bed for fleas. She uses ivormec every other month to treat for worms and prevent heartworm. Oral heartworm medications are not used because she would go broke.

3. Speaking of acreage, because of the discrepancy noted above, I reviewed the archived posts on the deaf dogs yahoo group. Lin joined the group on June 10, 08. She never introduced herself, and the first posting was to volunteer for a transport set up by one of the transport coordinators on the list. This was not a big deal, since a lot of people never really introduce themselves. However, on reviewing the archives, between August, 08 and Sept, 08, Lin mentions on several occasions that she has 30 acres of property in Carriere, MS. Then on Dec 11, 08, when she is responding to another deaf dog list member about her taking Piper, she describes her property as 500 acres, with 400 acres for cattle and the remaining acreage for house, horses and dogs. After the transport of Piper back to Kim, and when we confronted Lin, she again mentions 30 acres.

On the Akama open business directory, she is listed as having 20 acres. http://www.akama.com/company/Bleu_Mo...db1830357.html
On her website: http://bleumoonkennels.com/aboutus.htm , she also mentions 20 acres, on the “about us” page.

4. On the deaf dogs list, Lin reported on several occasions that she uses a cattle prod or hot shot on her dogs. She stated that a cattle prod is better than a dead dog resulting from a full blown fight consisting of 5-6 dogs or of getting hurt oneself while trying to break up a fight. At one point, she mentions that her husband had used the cattle prod on Piper while she was in the crate. She also mentions in some of her posts that she will use swimming pool noodles to “get the dogs attention” or “stop an unwanted behavior”. Part of the “issue” that Lin started to have with Piper was Piper’s refusal to come when called, and her nipping at Lin’s heels when Lin was out and about the property. These were new behaviors, and ones that she did not show prior to going to MS and has not shown since returning.

Our first hint that Piper may have suffered some emotional and behavioral trauma while with Lin came at her overnight. The overnighter stated that Piper was barking in the crate and would not hush. He squirted her with a shot of water, and she went ballistic. In fact, he mentioned that he was glad she was in the crate, because he was not certain what she would have done had she been out. This was not a behavior she presented with when living with Kim. Kim states that Piper always loved water and tended to chase the water hose when in use.

Kim also documented several incidents and new behaviors after returning that could be associated with a dog that had been abused or mistreated. Piper just about took Kim’s hand off when Kim touched her rump to encourage her to go into the crate. She had never done this before. Also, once in the crate, she would not settle down so long as Kim was moving about. She consistently moved and turned to keep Kim in sight. Kim described her as a whirling dervish. This also was a new behavior. Piper was not particularly happy to be in a crate before going to Lin’s, but she certainly was able to settle. One morning, Kim was sweeping her back porch. She turned around, unaware that Piper was behind her, and as soon as Piper saw the broom she hit the floor belly flat and just started screaming. Kim said it took nearly half an hour to settle her down, and that Piper had NEVER reacted to a broom in this manner before.

In one of her posts to the deaf dogs group, Lin mentions that she hopes that Kim will not want to kill Lin for any “damage” done to Piper as far as her training. She mentions that the more freedom she gave Piper, the more Piper seemed to want, up to the point where she would refuse to come in at night.

5. I am a moderator for the deaf dogs yahoo group. A moderator has privileges and access to information that the typical member does not such as dates that members join and leave the groups, as well as email and user name changes. While I was verifying Lin’s join (June 10, 08) and leave dates, using her bleumoonfarms yahoo ID, I discovered another interesting fact. I am going to bullet the changes line by line as it shows in the management section of the deaf dogs group. • April 1, 2008 6:27am Ktgeteup <ktgeteup@yahoo.com> Profile changed by bleumoonfarms <ktgeteup@yahoo.com> via web • April 5, 2008 8:57am bleumoonfarms <ktgeteup@yahoo.com> Profile changed by ktgeteup <ktgeteup@yahoo.com> via web • June 10, 2008 9:08am bleumoonfarms <bleumoonfarms@yahoo.com> Joined group via web

When I looked up ktgeteup, I found that she had signed on as a member on March 31. Katie was asking for help in placing a deaf ACD puppy. She did not sign her post, but the name Katie was in the ID/email addie identification section.

In order for Katie or bleumoonfarms to change the profile, they would have had to be the same person or have access to each other’s yahoo email sign on and passwords. However, although Katie stated she “knew Lin” and her breeding program, she never admitted to being Lin. And in fact, “Katie” left the group on June 12, 08 in order to travel to Australia, two days after “Lin” signed on. This change in profile can be verified by looking at three posts by ktgeteup. The first is on March 31, ID and email is revealed as “Katie” <ktgeteup@yahoo.com> ktgeteup. The second post is dated on April 1 and the ID and email is “bleumoonfarms” <ktgeteup@yahoo.com> bleumoonfarms. When Katie posts again on April 5, her ID and email addie has returned to the original as listed on March 31. One of the other moderators of the deaf dogs group is also willing to verify the information. The “last name” associated with Katie is Brenner.

6. Lin has a website for her Breeding program. http://www.bleumoonkennels.com/index.htm. On the website, she mentions “rescue” ACDs, and that an adoption fee is required (end of the “Available puppies” page). However, all adoption fees will go to St. Francis Animal Sanctuary in Tylertown, MS. Kim spoke directly with the founder of this Sanctuary. They denied knowing Lin Allen or Bleu Moon Kennels, and stated that they do not work with breeders. If they had decided to work with Lin, then she would have been remembered since it is against their policy to work with breeders.

In one of Lin’s responses to us, Lin mentioned that she pulled and rescued many dogs from the Pearl River Humane Society. However, Kim wrote to the Pearl River County SPCA Director, and Judy denied knowing anything about a Lin Allen, or Bleu Moon Kennels. Judy indicated that they are a 501c3 that runs the shelter for the county and the city. She did state they get a fair number of heelers at the shelter, which is a county shelter, not a city shelter and the only one in the area. She also stated that there is not a Pearl River County Humane Society.

7. Lin mentions in several posts that her kennel is USDA inspected and approved. We pulled the USDA inspection website, and were not able to find Bleu Moon Kennels for any state, much less MS.

http://www.aphis.usda.gov/animal_wel...ion_list.shtml 8. In Dec 2008, Lin posted pictures of her place after offering to take Piper. The pictures were gorgeous and a lot of people on the deaf dogs list mentioned wanting to move into Lin’s home to help her. The pictures showed a multi story ranch style house with a huge curving driveway bordered by two fenced in horse pastures. Her pictures of the dog runs were amazing, with huge side by side runs, a gazebo and agility training area. She created a collage of her property in one picture with the runs labeled to show which dogs she placed in those runs: “male runs”, female yard”, as well as an “agility yard”, “runs east side”, “practice yard”.

Once Piper got back to Kim, and we started to question the condition that Piper was in, one of the drivers shared a website with us called www.tineye.com . This website allowed us to take the photos and reverse image search. Through this website, we were able to determine that those beautiful dog runs were actually of a boarding facility in Hawaii: http://www.theohanaanimalinn.com/facility.html

The pictures of the horse pastures turned out to be listed in a real estate magazine know as Land and Farm, an online magazine. Most of the real estate sold in this magazine is in AL. I was not able to find the actual pictures that she posted, but the Tineye program states they originated from that source. (The pictures in the online magazine are layered and to find two pictures, I would have had to go through several thousand).

With this evidence to show that she had falsified the visual presentation of herself, I did not pursue looking for the source of the other pictures. However, I was able to find two objective individuals near Carriere, MS to drive by Lin’s listed address of 490 Sycamore Rd (this is the address listed on her website). One of the individuals took pictures. The house on the property with this address is a red brick, single level home, with the dog kennels housed under a carport. There is a red dirt pile (which Lin shared on many occasions with the deaf dogs group showing how her ACDs were allowed to be “just dogs”) and there are obviously several ACDs plus dogs of other breeds there. There is an above ground pool, and what appears to be a barn. The roof on the house is in very bad shape. I have the pictures of the house at 490 Sycamore Rd, Carriere, MS in my files and they certainly do not match the pictures Lin posted in the deaf dogs group photo section and listed as “Pipers New Home: Where Piper will call home”.

For the above reasons, I am making Lin a DNA/R/T/F. I have documentation of all of the above. However, to view the pictures mentioned above, and to read Lin’s messages concerning the cattle prod, and other disciplinary tools she uses (including the swimming pool noodle), and to look at the ktgeteup posts, one will have to sign onto the deaf dogs yahoo group. The posts and pictures are considered copyrighted so I cannot recopy them here. The address for the deaf dogs yahoo group is http://groups.yahoo.com/group/deafdogs I can provide directions for finding any information that may need to be verified. I also have permission to connect persons trying to verify information with several of the drivers on the transport for verification of Piper’s condition while on transport. Also permission has been given to contact the person that took the pictures of 490 Sycamore Rd.
