I signed up online after reading their ad:

limited time $1 pre-sale offer.

give a dollar, get a membership. simple as that.

I injured my foot shortly after signing up and decided to cancel my membership for the time being. Upon looking at the FAQ on their website, I saw this:

Our Gray membership allows you to cancel at anytime with 45 days notice.

Our Blue and Green memberships are twelve-month agreements. You can cancel the agreement within the first year with 45 days notice and a $60 buyout fee is applied. After the first twelve months of membership, you can cancel with 45 days notice without a buyout fee.

Which means it's $60 + 45 days of membership, just to cancel. During the signup process of my "$1 pre-sale offer", this information was never once clearly explained to me. I have contacted them via email and they've confirmed that in order for them to stop billing my credit card, I am going to have to pay $60 and then wait an additional 45 days while they continue to bill me a "prorate". I asked what the prorate was, and they explained that it varies and I would need to go to the gym and talk to a manager. Apparently, I also need to pay a "maintence fee" for the gym that I have not paid yet, even though I haven't been there once.

This whole process reaks of a ripoff.
