Blitt & Gaines agreed on a payment amount in writting. They were paid in full with a certified check. They cashed the check and started calling me 30 times a day wanting more money.I sent them a certified letter stating that they were paid in full with a copy of the check. I informed them not to contact me again. I also informed them in this letter that if they are going to report my debt to a credit company that it should be reported as disputed.

After it was confirmed that they recieved this letter they have been calling me non stop. They call at least 10 times a day. They start calling me at 7:45 A.M. till 9:30 at night. The woman Latoya has been harrassing me with threats. If I hang up on her she just keeps calling me back. I have stopped answering my phone and she just keeps leaving me voice mail.

This company doe not follow the Fair Collection act and Latoya informed me that she is going to harrass me untill I pay her above and beyond what they agreed in writting. This company needs to be stopped.

Susan you seem to understand the law.  This company seems to do this same thing, the low of the lowest, continue to dunn people after agreeing to settlements, or payments in full, duplication of a garnishee, in another thread on this website.

You seem knowledgeable, get up and go.  File complaints to Illinois attorney general and Federal Trade Commission.  They have had numerous complaints.

I was shocked at some of the tactics utilized by this co. they are the lowest of the low.

As for this individual calling you and making those threats, if valid, they may go beyond the fair debt collection practices act, and seem to border on criminal extortion.  I would seek legal advice, if you could record what you SAY she says to you, boy would you have a stick of dynamite to maybe have this place clean itself up.

On another consumer site an ex-employee, admitted their tactics, and said they don't hire, pofessional collectors, just take people w/o experience and throw them on the phone, and have no long time employees, probably to their advantage if the government ever gets after them.

I'm amazed at what these companies (debt buyers) are getting away with, and the only one who seems to be doing a good job going after all these fraudulent phone thieves is Anthony Cuomo of the N.Y. attorney general's office, from the lowest mortgage mitigationists, to the collection agencies, all taking advantage of the most need in our society.
