My wife and I redeemed approximately $50 in gift cards in Feb, 2001 at BBV since the cards were about to expire. We rented 2 movies and put the remainder of the balance on her account. We don't rent movies very often, but we rented a couple last month, expecting that a balance of approx. $42 would take care of the charges. When the employee rung us up, there was no record of our credit.

We explained the situation, and the store manager said that BBV now has a policy that account credits must be used within 180 days. We were not told this when we redeemed the gift cards, so we felt we should be given the remainder of our credit, which we would then make sure we use within 180 days. Since we have no receipts from the date of card redemption, we have no proof, so the manager agreed to file a request to their corporate office for an account history. The history shows our rentals, but nothing appears concerning the redemption of our gift cards.

The manager suggested that I try to contact their corporate office and explain the situation there. I'm skeptical of this because 1) I shouldn't have to do this -- she should; and 2) I don't truly believe I'm going to get anywhere with this.

Has anyone else had a problem with credit disappearing from their accounts? I'm just looking for some hints as to how to get our money back.
