We believe Blue Hippo has charged us more for our computer than what it is worth. We looked up our computer(brand & model) and have already paid twice what we would if we just bought it from gateway themselves. Also, Blue Hippo NEVER disclosed to us how much we were to actually pay & when we have asked, they change the subject.

In response to Debbie, I think your comment was granted, but can come off as if Blue Hippo is "right". I'm sorry, but this is FRAUD. The computers that Blue Hippo sells are the SAME computers that can be purchased in Wal-Mart for under $500....and Blue Hippo is charging over $2000!!

Reasonable profit would be selling the same computers (and they're still making considerable money selling them for $500 at the retail level) for around $600 - 700.....not $2000. If you want to make it so the people can afford it, I would make my funding company to end up charging the customer $700-800, WITH INTEREST. Now, you've made it affordable. $50 upfront...$10-$20 per week, depending on upgrades. My total cost = $50 + $20 x 50 weeks = $1050. Easier on their budget, and company STILL makes profit.

By that example, I have just taken Blue Hippo's "niche" in the market and made some serious cash....and have NOT screwed the customer.

I found some VERY USEFUL information for going about getting your money back from this fraudulent company. Visit the following websites and read:

File every complaint you can against Blue Hippo!! Bombard the FTC and BBB with complaints!! Contact your state's Attorney General!! This business MUST be stopped at all costs!! They've already lost one battle in Maryland....now make them lose the war!! Take this company down and make them payback EVERYTHING they owe you and the rest of the customers.

Are there ANY satistfied customers of Blue Hippo? It doesn't look like it...

So you went through Blue Hippo to get a computer. There must have been a reason you didn't go through Gateway or Dell directly (or Circuit City, Best Buy etc etc). My guess is:

1. You didn't have the money up front to purchase one.
2. You have insufficient credit to purchase one.
3. Both.

Surely you knew that Blue Hippo is for "credit challenged" people, they say so right in their ads - No credit check needed!!! That tips you off right there. Therefore, because they are a company that deals in "alternative financing", they charge a much higher interest rate because they know that many of their customers are or will become deadbeats. They're trying to recoup their losses. I see that their tactics are pretty shady, from what I read here, but that's their game nonetheless. People with bad credit are normally desperate and will do anything to get a computer, so they agree to crazy terms and interest rates to get it. If they wouldn't tell you the price upfront, that should have sent up a huge red flag. That's when you should have hung up the phone. You didn't. I don't see who you can blame here but yourself.

Unfortunately, that's the nature of the beast for those with "less than perfect" credit.
