So you saw an ad for an above ground pool for $299 and thought it was too good to be true? It is!

I am a former sales person for Blue World Pools (aka) Global Sun Pools. First off when you call the will ask for your social security number. Why? They are running a credit check to see if you qualify. Secondly they want to know if you actually own the home. No single wide trailers accepted. Then they set-up an appointment for a sales person to show up.

The sales person shows up and the first thing they do is call the office to report they made it to the appointment. This is when they are told the company needs a "show pool" in that area. Sales person looks over the yard seeing where "you" want your new pool.

Then sales person sits down showing you a book of the three pools they have. The first two are the Classic and Midline pools. They tell you all the great things about these pools and how you are going to save money by purchasing one of these pools. Most of the time they are pushing the Midline 24'. They promise that you will get a pool that uses an Ion water purifier. Using this you as the owner should only need to add a gallon of bleach once a week to have a clean and sparkling pool. The problem with this is the Ion system doesn't do a great job of killing the bacteria in the water. Since you are adding bleach then that makes the pool a chemical pool.

If you will become a show pool for them they will upgrade your ladder, give you a winter pool cover and a solar cover. But in order for you to become a show pool you need to do a few things. #1 you must agree to show your pool 3 times in one year. #2 The pool must be installed ASAP. #3 you must agree to sign today and today only. #4 you agree to give your personal guarantee (basically saying you will not back out of the deal)

If you will do this they will take the list price (usually around $17K and subtract $2600 off the top. If you don't go for this they will ask you if you would consider a 2 Year Show Pool. The only difference is you would show the pool 6 times in two years. If you will do this they will subtract an additional $2k off the price. Now the price is around $12K. They will finance it for 84 months at 21% interest so it will cost you around $270 a month.

They have promise their pool has a life time guarantee but it does not cover labor charges. You can get a 24' above ground pool at most any local dealer for around $3K totally installed. So basically you are buying a pool for an inflated price.

If you say no then the sales person calls the office and tells them the last price. The office gets you the home owner on the phone and tries to close the sale. They will even drop the price to the rock bottom price (somewhere around $8K) seeing if they can get you to buy. You still will be spending a LOT more money than what you could get locally. They want to sell you while they are there in front of you.

I've been stuck in someone's house for several hours while they debate if they should do it or not. It's a very uncomfortable situation for everyone there. And one last point. YOU as the customer have THREE working days to cancel your order. More things they don't like for their sales people to talk about but it is a Federal Law and they must abide by it. Blue World does count Saturday as working day so be careful.

Now if you still are sold on getting a pool for $299 there are some things you should know. #1 that price doesn't include delivery. #2 you as the customer are gong to have to jump thru many hoops to get this deal. #3 you the customer agrees to first off take a picture of where you pool is going and send it in to the company. #4 Then if that is OK'ed you the customer MUST get the ground level completely and take a picture and send it in. #5 You then send in another picture of that level ground with a tarp over that area. #6 You the customer MUST go to an attorney and have him sign off on the contract (costing you more money). #7 You the customer MUST show that you are the legal land owner. In other words your $299 pool just went up by leaps and bounds. The delivery cost is $399 alone much less renting a front end loader to level out the land and purchasing 2 tons of sand.

Also the $299 pool DOESN'T have a life time warranty. It comes with a cartridge filter (not a sand filter), a manual vacuum, a 13 mil liner (very cheap) and a cheaper ladder. If you want to pursue that route I suggest going to K-Mart, Wal-Mart or Sam's club and buying one of their cheaper pools. It will cost you less in the long run!

So why would I tell you the consumer all of this? Because I want to be able to sleep at night. I sold a few pools for Blue World Pools but really felt bad enough that I just could not go on misleading people who really could not afford a pool. If you are thinking of a getting a pool great! But please take a few days to think over your decision BEFORE you buy. If they are a good pool company they will fully understand and ANY offer to good to pass up that day will still be there in the next few days IF they really want your business.

Also I understand that Blue World is now selling Thermospa's Hot Tubs. Again they are inflating the price and dropping it trying to get you to buy today one of their show spa's.

So do yourself a HUGE favor and shop around for your pool. Don't be in a hurry to make a purchase. There is always room for negotiation and you can save yourself a lot of money.

It's VERY obvious that the positive comments are from the company itself. They must think people are stupid or something.

Deplorable Sales Tactics but what about personal responsibility?

I know someone also ripped off by this company....big time!!!! Their sales tactics and bait and switch tactics are absolutely deplorable. But what about personal responsibility for knowing what you're getting into. Is this company "breaking the law"? Or are they just taking advantage of weak people?

Beating the heat has never been a problem since my children asked me to install a blue world swimming pool at my backyard. the real good part has been that i have got all the priviledges that i was promised by blue world pool when i had called them to inquire about the whole thing.

Moreover, i had to pay them just the amount of the pool and the installation charges. These guys have no hidden costs. My children seems to be having a time of their life with this swimming pool. My husband too loves the nice, swimming session that he indulges in every evening after office.

Blue World Pools has in fact proved to be one of the best swimming pool dealers to work with and from whom one can buy a swimming pool from and get it installed in the backyard. This is indeed one of the best things that a family can indulge in.

It has been two years since I had got a blue world pool installed in the backyard of my home. And till date we have not had any problem with the pool. On the contrary I am glad I chose a blue world pool dealer as the pool I got was designed exactly the way I wanted and at a competitive price. It really surprises me to read that people have had bitter experiences with this reputed group as the after sales service that they provide to the customer is worth appreciating. I would like to thank blue world pool for making my dream of owning a private swimming pool a reality and such a smooth process and I hope to continue my association with them even in the future.

Using blue world pools has actually been a good experience for me. I was a little surprised to read about the bad experiences that people have had with blue world pools. This paticular person has probably had a bad session but my own experience has been a wonderful one. the services delivered by blue world are excellent and the best part is that they make sure that they cater to all the needs of their customers and satisfy them.

Moreover, the charges i paid while purchasing the pool included all the other charges like the delivery charges and all. Plus my family members and me find the pool to be highloy hygenic with all the modern facilities that helped us and is still helping us to enjoy a great swimming session.

Blue Water Pools

Wow thanks John for the info, really do appreciate it! I had just seen their ad on tv and had been debating whether to call them or not concerning their pools. But now that I know the truth about their sales, they can keep it! I plan to shop around elsewhere. And going to send many emails and, tell friends and family to come back to this site and, read what I have just read before they plan to buy a pool. And to shop other than Blue Water Pools! I want to thank you very much, if more people would stand up and let others know this type of information before they buy, then maybe this nonsense of rip offs would stop. Once again Thank You soooo Much, you saved me a lot of $$$ and headache.
