We purchased a 4-night stay for $200 at Bass Pro Shops in December 2013. We were told there would be a time share presentation during the stay, and we were fine with that, in fact we were interested. We called and booked our stay in Gatlinberg, TN for Feb.1 2014. Between the purchase date and the reservation date, we received at least 3 phone calls and planty of mail. They always asked if we had valid ID, a major credit card and income over $40,000, all of which we confirmed we had.

On Feb. 1 we drove the 365 miles to Gatlinberg and went to the check-in building. After disappearing with our IDs and credit cards, they returned and said we could not stay because my license had expired. This was news to me, I had just had a birthday and like many people, I'd forgotten it was my year to renew. I told them we'd get a new one when we got home and fax it to them, but this was not acceptable to them. I asked for a refund on my $200 and was given a partial refund. My husband was so furious he didn't even want to look around Gatlinberg, so we got back in the car and drove 365 miles back home. That's 730 miles round trip, and we are both 70!

We filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and asked for a full refund plus $100 in travel expenses. We said nothing about the wasted time. Bluegreen refused any further refund or reimbursement. A month has gone by and we are STILL furious about this. It does not seem the way to do business to me. After seeing all the complaints on this and other sites, I realize we would all do well to avoid this company like the plague.
