We received the following email from the scammers:

 

Amos (US UK Marketing/Press),

Hi, we're currently working on our 2014 Holiday/Winter Gift Guide issue and digital iPad edition this month and our staff would love to feature your Jeffrey Wool Daypack & Cognac Leather Belt in the 2014 Holiday "Must-Have" Travel/Style Gift Guide Section for our upcoming print release and website. We are requesting 3-6 high-resolution press/product images and 1-2 review samples/loaners (to be returned - if available) to be included in our 2014 Holiday print issue; our asset deadline is October 7th. The editorial feature will focus on your brands great design, quality craftsmanship, fast delivery, durability, and overall style/appeal.

For this issue we're also offering your brand as a separate opportunity our new client full-page print and digital advertisement, plus one week social network and main-page website "Pageskin & Takeover" package for $150.00 (USD). Our website reaches over 2.4 million web hits and 268,000+ influential viewers a month (similar Nylon GuysLos Angeles MagazineHaute LivingPaper MagazineHeart & SoulJuicy Magazine, and Fader Magazine) our quarterly print/digital lifestyle publication has a ratebase of 85,000 units (audited) internationally via Wal-Mart, Waterstone UK, and Barnes & Noble (25,000 in Miami, MHI of 250,000).

We paid for the ad in early August.  Not only that, but we sent them one of our products ($179) for them to shoot for the campaign and never heard from them again.  This is a complete scam and after doing a quick Google search, I found out we weren't the only ones.  I mean, what was I thinking, a full page advert in a magazine for only $150, what a joke!
