I am adding one more example of fraudulent practices of BMG Music Services, but this time they picked the wrong guy. As an attorney familiar with unfair business practices and illegal collection activities, BMG Music Services is going to regret the day one of their CD's darkened my mailslot. Nobody is obligated to return, much less pay for, any mailing sent unsolicited to a resident of the District of Columbia. Further, collection action against the recipient of the unsolicited mailing is fraudulent and a violation of federal laws governing the collection of debts. BMG's activities are illegal and unethical, but worse they are a menace to our credit ratings.

I informed BMG and its collection agency that I will be reporting BMG to the Federal Trade Commission and the District of Columbia Corporation Counsel. I urge anyone else who has been the target of BMG's unsolicited mailings to write a RipoffReport, and contact federal and state authorities.

One final point: don't bother to argue with the collection agency; all the agency can do is refer you back to BMG who in turns sends you another bill--with a late fee!
