Complaint Review: BMI WeightBusters/Heydari Healthcare

BMI WeightBusters / Dr. Heydari are administrators and distributors of the Ideal Protein Diet plan.  This plan requires doctor supervision and you must purchase the Ideal Protein food needed through an authorized doctor.  That being said, there are only a handful of doctors in my area to choose from that administer this plan.  I chose BMI based on their distance from my home.

Their initial consultation includes a weigh-in/ body measurements and a bag full of what you will need to get you through approximately 10 days on the plan.  Their cost for this initial visit is $350.  After this, you need to come in weekly to be weighed and measured and they chart your progress.  You also meet with a "coach" who is there to answer any questions you may have.  They charge $20/week for this service plus whatever Ideal Protein food and supplements you need to purchase at roughly $30 per box or about $100/week.

So as you can see this is quite an expensive venture but one I did not take lightly.  After talking to some friends, one of whom stated that she also was on the Ideal Protein plan but was going to a different doctor, I was shocked to find that they had only paid $150 for the initial visit and that that all future weigh-ins and visits with the coach were included.  I cannot believe that BMI WeightBusters and Mr and Mrs Heydari are capitalizing that much on this program and getting away with it.   Huge rip-off for honest people just trying to lose weight.   Do yourself and your wallet a favor and find another doctor!
