I contacted BMS Law for info about a home mortgage loan modification. I spoke to Bettie Cain at 877-847-4008 x 253 She was extremely friendly & helpful. I gave her my info to begin the process. After our ph conversation I searched the internet for anything negative about this company & found none. But I did find less expensive companies to work with.

I called Bettie I cancelled my working with BMS. I emailed her & cancelled my working with BMS.

Several weeks later I got a ph call from a man from BMS & I didn't ask his name for some reason. But he was calling to verify that the 1st installment of $900 was going to be deducted from my checking account & was that ok. I said no, I had declined going any further with BMS to do the paperwork for my loan modification & I had not filled out or faxed any of the forms they required to start the process. He said, OK fine we won't be going ahead then, is that correct? Correct I said, you can destroy any account info you may have on me.

A few weeks later BMS Law withdrew $900 out of my account. I have been calling, emailing, I have spoken to Bettie Cain many times she tells me paperwork has been submitted to issue my refund, yet the money has not returned to me or my account as of yet.

The person who filed this complainthas already received all her money back a few months ago. Bettie is no longer associated with BMS Law. This is a company which strives to assist clients who value the services being provided.

I'm not sure what happened to you, but I was loosing my home to the bank and these guys saved my home. I was always able to talk to someone and they did find many legal problems with my loan papers which helped me get the bank off my back and they even lowered my payments.
Are you sure you're not an ex angry employee?!!

Hello Lauren,

The BBB has received your complaint against BMS law, and will begin processing it normally.  I did want to offer an additional suggestion while our process takes place.  Since this company is claiming to be attorneys based in California, they are breaking California law by attempting to collect ANY fees prior to a loan modification being completed in its entirety.  Please contact the State Bar of California and report BMS law.  The State Bar can be reached at (213) 765-1000.  Many unscrupulous companies will tell you that since you are located out of California the advance fee laws do not apply.  This is entirely incorrect and you should not have been charged for anything by this company until a loan modification was completed.  I do understand that you declined services so no fees should have ever been applied anyways.  The BBB will be in contact with you regarding the complaint filed with us once it has been processed and sent to the company.
