I purchased a "Certified Preowned" 528i BMW from Athens BMW on December 24, 2001. At the time of purchase, the salesman and the Manager, indicated that the car was in great condition, serviced and ready to purchase. They did not disclose the fact that the law regarding Ad Valorum taxes had changed. I had to pay an additional $340 for the taxes. They should have disclosed this information to me.

I was 2 days over the time limit for them to pay the taxes. I had to have them pick the car up the day after they delivered it to have the car serviced. I realized they had made the delivery on the day they had so they would not have to pay the taxes. They have changed their story concerning pickup and delivery of a loaner car based on the fact that I live in Atlanta, now they are saying I will have to drive to Athens whenever I need to have my car serviced, at the time of purchase, they said they would pick the car up.

My cup holders, senors on alarm, service light, trimming and other defects are now coming to light. I've only had this car for 3 months and do not feel I should have to incurr these expenses on a $30,000 car less than 6 months old that is "Certified". Not to mention the treatment I've received from the General manager, salesman and any other person I've spoke with at this location regarding my dissatisfaction. I've requested they purchase the car back from me. They offered me $15,000, which is the amount of residual value determined after 3 years. Help.

#2Consumer Suggestion

The one sure way to get the dealers attention is to send a letter to the BMW home office in the US. Address it to consumer affairs and copy the President or CEO of the company.. I was getting nowhere fast getting a refund, but 7 days after I wrote the home office I got a call from the owner of the dealership and got a full refund plus expenses... Don't give up...Good Luck
