BMW of Tulsa is not the place to buy your new BMW. They have terrible customer service. I bought a new 2011 328 I and it still will not open my top of the line garage door opener. All my other vehicles open it. They have been out twice and could not fix it, and I was told and I quote, "We will make it work". THEN THEY NEVER GOT BACK TO ME.I HAVE GONE IN AND LEFT MESSAGES FOR MY SALESMAN,I HAVE CALLED AND LEFT MESSAGES, NO RETURN CALL.I FINALLY TOOK IT TO THEIR SHOP. THEY CHECKED IT AND COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. They sent me home with the same instructions that do not work and told me to try it again. Now they are back to not calling me and it still doesn't work. I in essence have a $42,000 car that will not open my garage, and a delership who will do nothing about it. I either want it fixed or my money for the car back as I have a lemon. I can actually say if you live in Tulsa and want a BMW, make the 100 mile trip to Oklahoma City to buy, you will at least get good service. You get nothing from BMW of TULSA, WHICH IS PART OF SOUTHPOINTE DODGE AND SOUTHPOINTE CHEVROLET.Hopefully their Dodge and Chevrolet delerships take better care of their customers.

It requires programming by the customer as I don't think spending only 42K on a car is going to get you a human included in the deal to come to the house and program it for you..

Either way..glad the OP finally got it sorted out.

For those who have never seen Homelink:

Homelink is installed in quite a few cars. In my Accord it is implemented with 3 switches mounted in the console above the interior rear view mirror. It can be set to do 3 different functions. In my case 2 of the buttons are set to open one of my 2 garage doors.

You can also purchase modules to plug lights or whatever in or on your house so you can turn them on when you approach the house. I guess you could have it turn on your coffee pot or toaster or open the gate so your goats can get out if you wanted to LOL.

It's very cool, not a required feature but as long as it's on the car it should work.

I'm glad it's fixed. Just out of curiosity, do you know what they found wrong?

That cheap POS BMW I just bought, won't run my dishwasher or washing machine or dryer. It must be defective. I want my money back. Will have to hire Juanita back.No but really, the last BMW I owned was when I lived in the bigcity. I bought it right before we moved out into the country. Pretty black 2 door. Came out one morning and the goats were standing on the roof. The cows liked to lick and chew on the mirrors. The final straw was when I ripped the muffler off on the cattle guard. The local BMW place was nice enough to replace itunder warrantybut said IF it happened again they'd charge me a 1000 bucks. Sold it off and bought a 4 wheel drive.

BMW FIXED PROBLEM

The salesman and salesmanager from BMW came out and the salesmanager fixed my car. I was very appreciative. They were both very nice and wanted the problem taken care of. I'm sorry it got this far before it got fixed but they must have been some miscommunication as far as the service department and the sales staff. I will DEFINITELY buy from BMW of Tulsa again. This time I will know who to go to if I have a problem. Their salesmanagement and sales team are second to none. Thank you Mike and Thad for your quick response and for fixing my car.

SIncerely,

Charles

Homelink

Jim is correct that the frequencies have to match but--

If I'm not mistaken, BMW uses Homelink like my Accord. There is a procedure to search for the correct frequency, the procedure includes doing something at the opener itself and then completing the setup in the car. There's even a procedure for setting up for openers that use rolling frequencies. I'm sure you've been doing this. It's in the owners manual and the dealer, of course, is familiar with it.

It might be worth contacting Homelink - there is a web site that includes setups for all the cars that use it and there may be a way to contact their support. Just a suggestion.

The fact that Homelink in your other cars work says you're door electronics is OK. If your other cars are just standard remotes, there could be something wrong there.

I like it in my Accord, it eliminates having to use a separate opener control. It's not a big necessary thing but I agree that if I paid $42,000.00 for a car that everything should work. Even if it didn't work in my Accord I'd have been on them to fix it.

Good luck.

Charles, you obviously have some other problems here than your new BMW not opening your garage door!

Are you kidding me?????

People like you just kill me.

How is it a "vehicle defect" that your BMW will not open your garage door?

You are an idiot.

If your BMW won't open your garage door, it's NOT BMW's fault, you have to Know the frequency your door uses to set ANY transmitter for that frequency.

ONLY WHEN THE FREQUENCY IS THE SAME WILL ELECTRONICS WORK CORRECTLY
