On June 25 I went with a friend to use a gift certificate a client had given me.  I was so excited to use this because I thought it had been lost so as soon as I found it I made my usual reservation a couple of weeks ahead with my friend at Bob's Steak and Chop House on Lemmon.

Upon presenting the gift certificate the server took the certificate and shortly after a manager (Chisty) appeared and explained that this particular location did not accept gift certificates from another location. (The gift certificate was issued in nearby Plano), The gift certicate clearly stated it was good at all Bob's Steakhouse locations.

She went into a lot of detail explaining that her location was acquired by another company (Omni Hotels?) and went into a lot of excuses for the reasons . I just wanted to my gift certificate honored and I did not need an to hear an entire Wall Street Journal report about the history of Bob's Steakhouse. I was simply looking forward to the usual nice meal.



In the end she said if she accepted it would personally come out of her pocket.

In order for us to redeem this we would have to travel to Plano.

 In the past few years my clients, friends and myself have spent much much money that the what this gift certificate is worth and it will probably be the last time I would give my hard-earned dollars to a company that does not value its customers.

Unfortunately it was one person's poor management skills that have made me come to this conclusion to my business elsewhere. 

The right thing to do would be to honor the gift certificate in the best interest of the customer.

Christy's short-sighted decision to refuse to honor the gift certicate  has foreever tarnished Bob's Steak and Chop House's reputation and I will share my experience with all my friends and collegues, many of which are current loyal customer's
