Complaint Review: Bob Valenti Automall

On vacation in Mystic, Conn. we encountered unexpected damage to our vehicle while in the care of valets at a local hotel/casino. It was a Sunday, and we needed to leave first thing next morning to be home in time for work. The vehicle was towed to the nearest dealership to await repairs asap. We were told the damage was almost a thousand dollars. I argued that the repairs were covered under warranty, as the vehicle was leased, but was informed by the billing person they were not. I told them to fix the problem so that I could get my family safely home.

To make this short, it turned out the repairs WERE covered under warranty, BUT I was also charged almost $400.00 by this dealership for additional maintenance I did NOT authorize. It was not printed at the bottom of my bill with the original repair instructions, which were there. This wasn't discovered until we had gotten home from our trip. To add insult to injury, when they added the bill, I was overcharged over $70.00 incorrectly!

We managed to get the warranted repairs and overcharge off the bill, but were forced to pay the additional $326.00 worth of unauthorized work. The dealership even admitted that the man taking the work order was new, and made mistakes, yet WE had to pay for them!

I would definitely NOT reccommend going to this dealer unless you want to get taken for a ride. We were from out of town, and in a rush to get back home, as we had already lost two days work pay waiting for the vehicle to be repaired, so it was a costly loss for us. All this, from a dealer that supposedly pride itself on having satisfied customers! What a laugh!

If you ever find yourself stuck in a situation where you need emergency auto repairs, don't go to Bob Valenti's, because if you have no choice but to go there like we did, your vacation will turn into a nightmare! AND CHECK YOUR BILL FOR OVERCHARGES!
