Complaint Review: Boca Fertility Clinic

The Boca Fertility Clinic owned by Dr Moshe Peress in Boca Raton is the most incompetent medical office I have ever dealt with. The list is endless on the ineptitude of this overcharging and incompetent office. Arriving at the Boca Fertility Clinic for my initial consultation, I was finally seen approximately one hour after my appointment was scheduled.

While in the waiting room a gentleman arrived and was involved in a heated discussion about getting a copy of his medical records. He obviously was not happy with the service at the Fertility Clinic and the office staff was completely rude with him. This should have tipped me off for the service I would be receiving. We met the doctor, Dr Peress who seemed like a decent doctor. We were also advised for the IVF treatment it would cost approximately $8,000.

The initial consultation and sonigram cost over $400 (not included in the $8,000. This was the theme of everything with this office. We spent thousands of dollars including a $1,300 blood test just for me and these were not included in the $8,000, yet. Endless attempts were made to the office to find out more information on test results, questions on costs, questions on where the doctor was (this was during the summer of 2007 and we could not make any appointments as the doctor was 'away' or booked up).

The office staff was always rude, making promises to call us back (this rarely happened. It took us calling their office a good 5 times for each question). After all of this, months later, I found myself in the position of the person that initial day in the office, wanting medical records to go to another doctor.

We found another doctor and called Dr Peress' office and faxed over medical records release forms, etc, etc. Then, the day we went to this new doctor, he did not receive anything close to all of the records he needed from the Boca Fertility Clinic.

We paid all of this money to Boca Fertility and they couldn't even give us the courtesy of faxing over the endlessly described documentation. They wasted everyone's time again, including the new doctor. Our appointment had to be rescheduled as the new doctor could not help without the missing records.

Then, I had to once again deal with Boca Fertility who put us through more run around. I finally showed up in the office and was charged for one $1,300 blood test, one dollar a page record fee. When I balked at the fee, the receptionist made sure to advise me that there is always a fee for medical records.

Personally, I advised, I have never been charged for anything like this since I already overpaid for all procedures in this office. Do not ever go to the Boca Fertility Clinic as they are the worst example of rip off in the medical field I have ever seen.
